Five charcoal-infused treats that’ll turn your tastebuds to goosebumps this Halloween

Working activated charcoal into food items to get that jet black finish isn’t anything new, but we love exploring this food trend, especially in the fall season. While we don’t recommend making activated charcoal a part of your regular diet, we can’t ignore its beautifully eerie aesthetic in these eats. As Halloween approaches, we rounded up some local places across the US to indulge in charcoal-infused treats to celebrate the creepy season.

Hong Bo Burger & Poutine (Markham, Ontario CA)

What to order: They offer an array of fun buns for their sandwiches and you can choose the bun to suit your mood. Feeling dark? We suggest the charcoal bun with the crispy shrimp burger (pictured) or the teriyaki burger.

The Greenery Creamery (Orlando, FL)

What to order: Not only do they offer ice cream infused with activated charcoal, they also add it to the waffle cones as well. They pride themselves on micro batch dairy and vegan flavors on signature vegan cones and if you want to go super eerie, try the black-ash-coconut ice cream on a charcoal cone!

Luce Coffee Roasters (Houston, TX)

What to order: They have a black label section on the menu for charcoal specialties which include the the three black forest, black island and black cloud drinks pictured above. If you don’t need the energy boost, they also have a black-ade with charcoal powder and housemade lemonade.

Charcoal Venice (Marina Del Rey, CA)

What to order: You would think from the name that everything on the menu might be blasted with charcoal, but it’s sparingly used throughout their offerings. If you go for brunch, you need to get the stunner charcoal benedict (pictured) which includes charcoal-infused jet black hollandaise. You can choose from three variations like grilled ham, dungeness crab, or smoked salmon.

Chocolate Pi (Tampa, FL)

What to order: While it’s a coffee and dessert lover’s dream, if you’re staying on brand, you need to have a black suede. They offer multiple flavors, but this latte is infused with activated charcoal and sprinkled with edible glitter. This means you need to stop staring at it before it gets cold.
