Yelp names women-owned businesses “Ones to Watch” in food, beauty and home for 2022

In honor of Women’s History Month, which kicks off on March 1, many are looking for ways to support women-owned businesses in their local communities. Today, we’re celebrating by sharing a list of standout women-owned businesses across industries like food, beauty and home.

Since launching the women-owned business attribute in partnership with Rebecca Minkoff and the Female Founder Collective in 2019, more than 310,000* businesses have self-identified as women-owned. You’ll find businesses like Pig and Khao, led by chef and owner Leah Cohen, where Yelpers love the Southeast Asian flavors, and Austin-based Ghost Pepper Glass, where Yelpers praise the friendly staff. Whether you’re in the mood to dine at a female-run restaurant or shop locally with a great women-owned business, our list of women-owned businesses has got you covered.

Methodology: To determine the list of Women-owned businesses to watch, our data science team started by identifying businesses that have self-identified with the Women-owned attribute on Yelp in food, beauty or home categories. From the candidate businesses in each category, we limited the list to three businesses per state, and narrowed it down by weighing a variety of factors, including national online presence, average rating and review counts. Businesses featured are listed alphabetically.

*An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the number of Women-owned businesses on Yelp. The number of businesses who have identified as women-owned on Yelp is 310,000.
