Yelp Careers in the News

Obviously, we know Yelp is a great place to work, but it’s always nice to hear when other people think so too. I wanted to share some recent highlights that celebrate Yelp’s culture and diversity across our employees, our industry and our community.

On the sales side of things, our SVP of Local Sales, Erica Galos Alioto was recently named one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Technology. Our Chicago office was also featured in a roundup of different sales offices with great cultures and team traditions. The piece highlights one of our core values: ‘Be Unboring’ and says, “Yelp doesn’t just celebrate wins once yearly… From ongoing competitions to gong ringing, the team celebrates wins on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis, all in the name of fun.”

Shout out to our Chicago sales office!

In industry news, Yelp recently landed at #20 on Forbes’ list of Best Midsize Employers in America. Our SVP of Engineering, Mike Stoppelman, also talked to about the importance of internship programs and co-ops, and staying engaged with interns long after their internship has ended. For related reading, check out his post on LinkedIn: Why Interns Are Yelp’s Best Kept Secret To Success.

Another local news article highlighted the diversity of Yelp’s community and noted that it can give a voice to underrepresented points of view. The Post and Courier chatted with three local Charleston Yelp Elites who said that they’re struck by the prominence of women and people of color in the Yelp community; One of the Elites mentioned that, “…there aren’t too many local situations in which an African-American woman, a Puerto Rican woman and a Jewish woman walk into a bar and sit at the same table…Yelp is the great equalizer.”

I love hearing stories like these and wanted to share them with the rest of the community. Be sure to follow along with @YelpCareers on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to stay up to date on what’s going on in the land of Yelp. Oh, and by the way, we’re hiring. 😉
