Women’s Health and Yelp Discover the “Wellthiest” Cities in America

Ever wondered if you live in a health and wellness hub? Women’s Health magazine paired up with Yelp’s data science team, spending six months researching hundreds of zip codes across the United States to discover the “Wellthiest” cities in America. To quote Women’s Health, “well-th” means that these chosen cities are the “healthiest, happiest, outdoors-iest, Zen-iest towns in the U.S.” Click here to read the full article.

Women’s Health via Yelp data worked to identify a diverse array of cities, each boasting a high quality of life and a wealth of healthy-lifestyle businesses. To compile this list, Women’s Health and Yelp scored each city in the following categories: number of healthy-lifestyle businesses per capita, how often people were searching for these types of businesses, how often people were these types of businesses, and how highly the businesses were rated.

After Yelp’s team sifted through the data, Women’s Health tapped Yelp’s Community Managers to get the names of the trendiest health and wellness destinations in each city. Local offerings featured in the article range from innovative fitness options like Soul Movement in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to fun festivals like Albuquerque’s International Balloon Fiesta. Women’s Health also highlights tons of tasty-yet-healthy grub in Austin, Texas such as Franklin Barbecue for the meat-lovers out there and plant-tastic vegetarian options at Bouldin Creek Cafe. When it comes to zen, Phoenix, Arizona takes the cake as it’s home to a myriad of spas and wellness resorts such as Sanctuary Spa and Spa Lamar.
