Yelp launches “Deck the Halls with Yelp” Holiday Winterization Fund in Texas

Yelp is launching “Deck the Halls with Yelp,” a holiday winterization fund to help small businesses in the area cover the costs of improvement projects needed to prepare for the winter season. Starting today through December 17, Yelp users across Texas can nominate their favorite local businesses in Austin or San Antonio to receive funding for extreme weather preparations. Yelp will award $10,000 each to 10 beloved local businesses, as part of the $100,000 fund.*

With the ability to connect millions of users to highly-rated, trusted home and local service professionals, last winter Yelp data reflected the rising demand for services professionals in Texas. Across the state, consumer interest in February and March of this year spiked in categories including: Chimney sweeps (+64%), fireplace services (+30%), generator installation and repair (+30%), water heater installation and repair (+16%) and plumbing (+10%).

“This year, to address that demand, we’re helping small businesses winterize their brick-and-mortar locations to help prevent potential setbacks caused by severe weather,” says Yelp’s Small Business Expert Emily Washcovick. “Yelp’s holiday winterization fund is one way we hope to give local businesses that are essential to our communities a helping hand following this year’s extreme weather and prepare for the season ahead.”

In celebration of the campaign and to help Texans get into the holiday spirit, Yelp partnered with local small businesses Enchantment Event Decor and Revival Coffee to create a festive space for residents to enjoy one of the best parts of the season: the decorations! In addition to the array of eccentric lights, playful tinsel, garlands, and trees, Yelp has also installed an eye-catching holiday-inspired photo moment for customers to enjoy.

“We’re so excited that Yelp has helped us deck out Revival Coffee for the holidays while also creating a space for people to support small businesses in our community”, says Gabriela Bucio, owner of Revival Coffee. “Through the talented team at Enchantment Event Decor, we’ve created a whimsical winter wonderland to help get guests of all ages into the holiday spirit. Make sure to stop by and nominate your favorite businesses so the local spots we love are here for years to come!”
