Boos and Boozin’! Yelp Data Helps Jump-Start Your Summer Travel List

Memorial day has come and gone leaving summer in its wake. Good news: Thanks to the Yelp Data Lab, all your summer weekends will be booked by the time you get to the end of this post. We worked with Travel + Leisure, Business Insider, BuzzFeed and more to highlight some awesome local businesses across the states.

Lobster data roll-out

As East Coasters know, summer time means lobster time! Travel and Leisure’s round-up of the top Lobster rolls according to Yelpers across New England will help you navigate the region’s freshest. With gram-worthy spotlights such as Providence Oyster Bar’s loaded masterpiece and The Canteen’s garnished roll with spring green slaw, found on the tip of the Cape, the list is not only picture perfect and mouth-watering, but might even inspire a nautical summer road trip.

Screamin’ through the U.S.

Buzzfeed published a list of the spookiest spots in each state according to numbers procured by Yelp’s data science team. Whether you like to be spooked or are a non-believer, haunted hotels such as the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado and Alaska’s Van Gilder Hotel just might make your blood curdle. A spooky spot to enjoy all the South has to offer at the Olde Pink House in Savannah, Georgia not only redefines Southern culinary classics, but could give you an epic adrenaline rush!

Wine-ing down

Travel and Leisure promises that their list of top vineyards around the U.S. delivers on exceptional vino-heavy experiences. The top three? California vineyards, but the list is full of spots all over the U.S. thanks to Yelp data. Non-California favorites include the quaint Zephaniah Farm Vineyard in Leesburg, Virginia and Hermosa Vineyards, located in the high mountain desert of western Colorado that surely lives up to its name. In addition to wine, T+L says there are many more reasons to visit these standouts such as the incredible views and delicious pairings.

4 and 5 Star Bars

Yelp’s data revealed that America’s favorite bars are just as varied as the landscape and population of the country itself. Business Insider gives readers a glimpse into fan favorites in various states based on Yelp data. From hole-in-the-wall spots such as the unassuming Fairview Lounge in Illinois which is connected to a gas station, to D.C.’s happy hour favorite, Nido, America sure knows how to booze!
