One of our largest employee resource groups, Women at Yelp (WAY), continued to tackle their goals in 2020. Specifically, they strengthened their community, listened to their members, and executed on activities that would help them grow as individuals.
Our Phoenix chapter led a discussion on allyship. They shared resources, broke out into groups, and explored their personal definitions of being a life-long ally. They also partnered with our San Francisco chapter to promote voter education and registration. Members chose topics specific to California and Arizona that they were interested in, including tax laws and bail systems. They researched arguments for and against, and discussed these during a virtual lunch.
Additionally, WAY members had interest in financial planning and homebuying, which led to a Lunch-and-Learn session with a realtor and mortgage broker. They will close the year by gathering donations for local food banks and writing Letters to Santa in support of the Make-a-Wish foundation.
WAY brings female identifying folks and allies from all walks of life joined by the common goals of personal and professional development, and camaraderie. They believe in their powerful presence at Yelp and push themselves to exceed their own expectations.
