The Impact of Working in Customer Success

Meet Candace, a Customer Success Manager on our Local CS team! Candace’s Yelp journey began a year ago, and to celebrate her first Yelpiversary, she is sharing an inside look into what her #FiveStarCareer has been like so far.

What does a typical day look like in your role?

I start each day by speaking to different business owners and helping them to understand how using Yelp can benefit their businesses. I help them create, update, and spend time with their Yelp listing work with them to come up with solutions to help them gain new leads.

What is your favorite part of your role?

I love showing business owners all of the great features Yelp offers to promote businesses. It always feels great being able to show business owners all of the valuable Yelp features they can use to ultimately grow their business.

What is your #1 tip for staying productive while working from home?

Step away from your desk! I believe in using breaks and lunch to step away, breathe, and take time for myself. Even if it’s just a quick 10 minutes, I walk away from my desk and move around. This helps me stay focused and productive while I work.

Tell us about a time that you’ve helped a Yelp customer achieve their goals or solve a tough problem

I worked with a moving company that had previously tried Yelp but hadn’t seen the success they were hoping for, causing them to be hesitant about giving it another try. I explained to them that if we worked together, we could make their ad campaign a successful one. I shared the importance of having pictures and utilizing Yelp’s portfolio feature, and I mentioned that Yelp has great features for moving companies. For example, they could put their prices and rates right on their Yelp page. Two weeks later, the owner called back and shared that he was able to book clients right from Yelp!

How does Yelp support your work-life balance?

One of my favorite things about Yelp is the emphasis on work-life balance. Between having wellness time and paid time off to having a wellness reimbursement every month, I can enjoy both work and life.

How does your manager show that your work is valued?

My manager does a great job of showing me that I am and my work is valued. From 1:1 conversations to team chats, he always encourages me to continue to do my best.
