Tell us about your journey at Yelp
I can’t believe I’m celebrating five years at Yelp – what a journey it has been! I started in 2017 as the Community Manager for Yelp Miami, and I was in that role for four and a half years. It was one fabulous ride. From pool parties, happy hours, and a Quince celebrating Yelp’s 15 birthday, it brought me a lot of joy to support the business owner community in my hometown. I’ve been part of the Community Management team since September of 2021, and it has been such a pleasure to help support the amazing folks on my team to create experiences for their communities.
What’s the most rewarding part of working at Yelp?
Supporting a team of Community Managers as they connect people with great local businesses. The Community Management team makes an impact on the lives of business owners and people in our communities. Knowing that our work can help someone find their new favorite place and directly support someone’s business is so rewarding. I love working with some of the most creative and supportive people. While we’re all working towards the same goal of helping local businesses and growing our communities, everyone achieves that in different ways and it’s inspiring to see.

Tell us about a community at Yelp that you’re proud to be a part of
I love being part of somosYelp. It’s been really great to connect with other Latinx employees across the company. I think it’s important to share our culture within this group, and with the company as a whole, because it helps to educate the greater team about Latinx culture. I think it’s amazing to work for a company that leans into diversity and creates opportunities to support its diverse employees with programming, support, and education.
What do you enjoy the most about working from home, and how do you stay productive?
One of my best days at work had to be the busiest. I had four back-to-back trainings, and I was on camera for probably five hours, but it was so exhilarating. I had great conversations wi I love the flexibility of working from home. It allows me to do the things that bring me balance – like working out and spending time with family – while managing a team and my tasks. Through discipline comes freedom, and so I definitely think creating a routine while working from home is important for success.
What happened during your best day at work?
There are so many “I love my job days” that it’s hard to pick just one. As a Community Manager, it was definitely the 15th birthday party AKA, Yelp’s Quince. As a first-generation Cuban-American, I find it extremely empowering that I can celebrate my culture while connecting people and businesses within the community. This party had over 40 vendors, staging, and entertainment, and it raised almost $10,000 for a local children’s museum in one night. It celebrated all things Miami in a way that made me so happy. It was my dream event come to life, a party Miami loved, and one of my favorite days at work to date.

What’s something that can only happen here?
Meeting some of my best friends that are from across the country. How else would I have found myself being best friends with someone who lives in Vancouver, California, or Orlando as someone based in Miami? The way our remote roles are structured means you connect with people who you definitely wouldn’t have met otherwise. Besides moving the mission of Yelp forward, the friendships I’ve made with people who work here is my favorite part of working at Yelp.
