When she’s not making experiences better for local business owners or taking on new mentorship roles, you can most likely find her brunching with her never-ending parade of friends. What drew you to a job at Yelp initially?
I have been an avid Yelp user for quite some time, so I was absolutely thrilled when this opportunity came along. Being part of a company that has guided me to the salons, restaurants, and home service companies almost seemed too good to be true. Having worked for a small gift shop all throughout high school, I have a huge heart for small businesses. I knew that the account manager role would be perfect for me; the incredible company culture is the cherry on top!
What is a typical day in the office like for you?
There is no such thing as a typical day! Every day is different than the last, which is one of the reasons I love this job so much. I work specifically with clients who have concerns with their advertising program, so no two conversations are alike. Learning more about these businesses and coming up with unique solutions tailored to them can be a challenge, but it is oh so rewarding. I’ll also round up with my team once a week to go over goals and monthly progress which helps us stay on track.
What makes your job exciting?
The people that I work with. 100%. Both on, and off the phones. I have the most incredible co-workers and I get the opportunity to speak with passionate business owners every single day. What more could you want?
How does this job fit your skill set and what are you most excited about as you continue to grow in your role and at Yelp?
I thrive in fast-paced environments, which is hugely important to my success in this role. I rely on my ability to learn quickly, approach challenges with positivity and implement feedback effectively. I consider myself a people person, which makes spending 2-3 hours on the phone daily a piece of cake! To say I am looking forward to my future at Yelp would be an understatement.
Where do you find a sense of community at Yelp?
I find a sense of community in the Account Management department as a whole. We’re one of the smaller groups in the office, which has made it easy to get to know everyone. There isn’t a person within Account Management who I wouldn’t feel comfortable leaning on after a tough call or celebrating a win with!
What are you up to when you’re not at work?
I’ve lived in Chicago a little less than a year, so I still do a ton of exploring. There are so many neighborhoods, all with totally different vibes. My boyfriend and I have been to a few street festivals in those neighborhoods, as well as tried lots of new restaurants. I’ve also been on a couple of intramural sports teams (my kickball team won our championship, no big deal).
What makes living in Chicago so great?
Chicago is by far the most exciting city that I have ever lived in. From concerts, to sports games, to movies in the park, there is always something to do. I’m a serious foodie, so the restaurant scene is a big part of it too. Chicago winters can be brutal, but we actually get four distinct seasons, which I absolutely love!
