At Yelp, we prioritize continuing the conversation. So, this Black History Month, we invited CEO of Washington Area Community Investment Fund (WACIF), Harold Pettigrew, and Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) Staff Attorney, Ashley Adams, to discuss their mission-driven work.
EJI is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the U.S., challenging racial and economic injustice, and protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.
WACIF’s mission is to increase equity and economic opportunity in underserved communities in the Washington, DC area by investing knowledge, social, and financial capital in low- and moderate-income entrepreneurs.
In this panel, the two organizations came together to underline the importance of supporting Black-led and Black-serving organizations that focus on the needs of communities of color. Additionally, our speakers shared their career paths and key insights they’ve found along the way. Over 120 employees participated in the conversation and now know how to further support and learn from WACIF and EJI.
