Meet Brittany, a Junior Local Sales Manager on our Local Sales team! Brittany recently celebrated her second Yelpiversary, and she looking back on what her #LifeAtYelp has been like over the last two years.
How did you know you wanted to pursue a job in sales?
Before coming to Yelp, I was working for a company that had shut down during the pandemic, so I was on the hunt for a new adventure. I have always been able to strike up a conversation with anyone, so I thought I would take a shot at sales! Since then, I haven’t looked back.
What is your advice to someone interested in sales?
Trust the process and have fun! Not everyone is instantly good at sales, and it takes a lot of practice and hard work. Implementing feedback is a great way to continue to grow in your sales skills and help achieve your goals.
Tell us about your journey at Yelp
My Yelp journey started in January 2021. I didn’t have any sales experience, but I was eager to learn and ready to see what a successful career at Yelp could entail. I started my career in Franchise Sales where I had the opportunity to learn from the best of the best. Every day, I would find one piece of feedback or advice that I could implement into my own daily routine. I strived to be the top rep and leader on my team. I accomplished many goals in Franchise including being a top 5 rep twice!
The Brittany, who started in January 2021 with no sales experience, never would have thought she could reach those goals. Eventually, I decided I wanted to take my leadership skills to the next level, and lucky for me, I had a great manager and director to help me on my management journey.
With their help and support, I landed a role as a Sales Training Manager in July 2022. I always knew I wanted to share my experience and knowledge of the Account Executive (AE) role with future AEs, but I never dreamed it would become a reality so soon.
Every day, I get to help my team achieve goal after goal. Watching them succeed is hands down the most rewarding thing about this job. I am so thankful for the path that led me to Yelp, and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else!
How do you stay motivated to hit your goals when you’re having a tough day?
I stay motivated to hit my goals by maintaining a positive mindset. I remind myself that the hustle and grit will pay off, even if it’s not instantaneous. I preach this to my team daily. All of the small wins add up to bigger wins as long as we don’t lose sight of our goals.
Tell us something you learned from the Yelp Sales Development Program that made you a better salesperson
I cannot say enough great things about the Yelp Sales Development Program. The support, knowledge, and encouragement are unmatched. I am not sure you could get all of that at any company other than Yelp.
How does Yelp’s leadership remind you that your work is valued?
Since day one, my wins have been appreciated and noticed. I worked for two large companies in the past, and I consistently felt like my hard work was overlooked. The endless encouragement at Yelp makes a massive difference in my mindset. Knowing that when I log on and what I do every day is valued, appreciated, and noticed makes me excited to come to work.
I have always felt appreciated and valued, even in a remote world. Every goal here is supported and someone is always asking ‘How can I help you make your goal a reality?’ It really is amazing to be a part of such a great company.
