Be The Change: A Conversation with The Center for Policing Equity

As part of our commitment to supporting Black-led and Black-serving organizations, we started to form lasting relationships with nonprofits beyond the monetary support provided by our employees and the Yelp Foundation. We want to continue to bring awareness about the work these organizations do and amplify the voices that drive meaningful change. 

For one of our first 2021 events, we invited staff members from The Center for Policing Equity (CPE) to talk to our employees about their data-driven approach to ending racial bias in policing. CPE exists to measure the intersection between the community and policing as it pertains to race, and they work with law enforcement agencies and governmental entities to generate progressive discussions from the data found in their communities. 

Almost 200 of our employees engaged in the discussion. They asked poignant questions about CPE’s strategies, and received advice on how to best continue the conversation. The Center for Policing Equity is hard at work using science to bring the police and their communities together, and we could not be more proud to continue supporting them.
