Ally’s Journey to Enterprise Sales

Say hello to Ally, an Emerging Enterprise Account Director on our Enterprise Sales team. Ally’s #LifeAtYelp began in 2017 as an Account Executive on our Local Sales team. After 10 months of working in Local Sales, she interviewed for a position on the Midmarket Sales team. Shortly after, she transitioned to the team and saw great growth in her skills in her new role. In June 2021, she interviewed for a position on the Enterprise team and shortly after.

What does a typical day look like in your role?

My days are typically very segmented. 10% of my day is dedicated to my post-sale accounts, which includes processing campaign changes, providing optimizations, implementing page updates, putting together reports, and hosting client calls. The remainder of my day is spent on my pre-sale accounts. I am tasked with bringing in new business, cultivating relationships with potential clients, and creating campaign recommendations based on various priorities and goals. I enjoy the duality in this role – bringing in new clients and retaining my relationships!

How did you know that you wanted to pursue a job in sales?

I didn’t! I majored in business administration and marketing at Loyola University Chicago. After graduating, I knew I wanted to work at a company with strong values and constant innovation. I interviewed for a sales position at Yelp, got offered the job, and took it! Since then, I have come to love sales because of its relationship-building components.

What is your advice to someone who is interested in sales?

I would advise anyone interested in pursuing a role in sales to embrace the highs and lows, and make the process your own. When you approach a sale with your voice, you speak with more conviction.
