Our recruiters are in the business of interviewing candidates in order to find the best fit for open roles, so you can bet that they’re well-versed on what a candidate can do to stand out in the interview process. We went straight to the source to uncover four top tips to use for you’re next interview prep.

1. First things first, be a sponge and do your research. Take some time to research the company, the people you will be meeting with, as well as the job description. Being able to discuss the organization’s history shows interest and curiosity in their mission and values. Don’t be afraid to take it a step further and research your interviewers. This helps to find commonalities and can also help build bridges for conversation.
2. Sell yourself. There are a lot of interview myths out there, but being prepared with an elevator pitch is not one of them. Come prepared with a 30 second run down and a more detailed 3-5 minute recap of your experience and background. Remember to personalize it. Candidates sometimes can get thrown with the simplest of questions, like what do you do for fun? If you are a marathon runner, tie that into how determined you are.
3. Anticipate potential interview questions. Don’t let yourself be caught off guard with questions in the interview. You may not be able to find them all, but doing research on different types of interview questions can help you be better prepared. 4. Have follow-up questions ready. Though we recommend having a set of questions in your interview arsenal, if something pressing creeps to mind during your conversations, don’t ignore it and ask away. Need some help brainstorming?
