Rosso; the colour of passion, the
colour of wine and the colour of Rosso Pizzeria's
signature San Marzano tomato sauce! With a sizzling Red Hot theme for the
night, YelpYEG Elites kick up the hotness factor and donned fashions from the
fire range of the colour wheel. They received the Royal Roma treatment and partied like VIPs, Italian style, at the newly opened chic
pizzeria boutique in the grand Ol' Garneau.
To start things off, the
amazing staff of Rosso brought out plank after plank of charcuterie, cheese
boards, antipasto, bruschetta and salads. The feasting continued with authentic
Italian pizzeria offering from a true wood fire pizza oven. From classic to
contemporary flavours, we tried the gamete of thin crust pizza perfection! "I am pretty confident that this pizza is made on the best crust I have ever tasted! Unique flavours combined to make some of the most interesting (in a VERY GOOD way) pizza I have ever had!" asserted Amanda F. Then Lucky
Elites where taken into the kitchen to learn how to stretch pizza dough, laser
calibrate the perfect room temperature to cook in a wood fire oven and even how
to use that big stick used to rotate the 'zza in the ovens! " Learning
how to make the pizza was so much fun – what an experience! The chef was very
patient with us and showed us how to stretch out the dough and slide it off the
pizza wheel at the right angle into the scorching hot oven" noted Jenn C. Last
but certainly not least, we must not forget the unlimited gelato tasting availabe: “Ladies
dressed in red and spicy pizza made this a hot event but it was kept cool with
many flavors of gelato,” gushed George H.
With all that spectacular
food equally amazing libations were needed and the Horizon Brewery team of
Vince and Scott did not disappoint! They were full of knowledge and skilled in
the Ale Arts! Pouring 3 unique and incredibly complex drafts from Europe,
everyone found something to love… or two, or three. There was the Austrian Maisels
Weisse Original; mildly spicy with notes of malt, fruit, clove and a touch of
nutmeg. An excellent all-round beer. Next was the strong dark ale, Gouden
Carolus Classic, named for Emperor Charles V and possibly Belgian’s oldest
remaining brewery. It wowed the crowd with a thin texture, big flavour and caramely, brandy, fruitcake-esk notes. And then there was the spectacular St
Bernardus Abt 12. An Abbey ale brewed in the classic ‘Quadrupel’ style. Dark,
full with a long bittersweet finish and complex flavours. This 10% abv is
regarded worldwide as one of the best beers in the world! "For some strange (good) reason, two of my all time favorites were in the list: St Bernardus and Maisel'a Weisse!" disclosed Arty S. – We aim to please Arty! For those whom
prefer bubbles to beer, the fabulous Barbara from WineQuest was on site with Prosecco
Giall’Oro Ruggeri. This prosecco is like Quentin Tarantino meets Andrea Bocelli: Explosive
and expressive with enchantingly resonant and beautiful notes.
When it comes to a fabulous party it's all in the details! And
the mood was perfectly set for Red Hot Roman style soiree with some help from our friends. AXE
Productions provided a six-foot projection screen playing black & white classics La Dolce Vida and Roman holiday."Us gals were spoiled by beautiful red roses in the powder room" as
Janice LeLacheur of Janice's Grower Direct and Fresh Cut Flowers provided a gorgeous bouquet, "I felt like I
stepped onto the set of the Bachelorette washing my hands in a sink
filled with rose petals!" divulged Kristin K. And finally, to capture this
magical evening on FILM and man the Nutella Photo Booth was a new resident Yelp Photographer, the very talented
(and handsome, noted the ladies!) Emmet Adriaans of Emmet Adriaans Photography. Thank you so much Emmet, Janice, team AXE, Dave and his staff at Rosso; you are what makes Etown the City Of Champions!
Until Next Time…See You On Yelp.
