Yelp’s Top Secrets Revealed In Sactown

For the second year, Yelp Sacramento highlighted some of our newest and hottest establishments with four consecutive nightly parties. The catch? None of the locations were revealed until hours before on the day of the event, building up incredible buzz and anticipation! When the parties were announced, they were naturally at some of the most buzzed about new spots: La Cosecha, Urban 57, Serpentine Fox Prohibition Grille and Margarita’s Village. Each night was epic in it’s own way, with everything from drinks and food to entertainment galore.

The first evening brought 300 curious yelpers down to La Cosecha, located in the heart of downtown, where owner and chef Ernesto Delgado has created a menu that brings together the complex flavors of Mexico. Yelpers enjoyed Aztec dancers, Mariachi, a DJ and a plethora of eats and drinks that included a special Yelp cocktail, all while soaking in a warm Sacramento evening on the restaurant’s many patios.

24 hours later, we flipped the traditional concept of an event on its head by hosting it at Urban 57, an upscale furniture and interior design store. The classy affair included wine, beer, massages, live jazz and, of course, plenty of lounging on the upscale furniture. Owner Kamran Baghestanian was incredibly brave to let our guests lounge while sipping red wine, but we’re happy to report there were no spills. To the contrary, there were a couple purchases!

The Serpentine Fox Prohibition Grille, an acclaimed new gastropub, served as our third nightly location. To say Owner Diego Peralta and team brought it in terms of food and drink would be an understatement. Yelpers savored bites off their comfort food menu including juicy burgers, wings and fries, along with special cocktails from their team of talented bartenders. A rock/reggae band served up tunes to fit the vibe of the evening.

We capped off the week with a more intimate gathering at Margarita’s Village. This Mexican eatery (with recipes sourced in Mexico City) pulled out all the stops, including clearing out room for more guests, passing tasty appetizers, Spanish guitar music and the crowd-favorite: a watermelon margarita. Owner Ulises Ponce was incredibly thankful to all who attended, even surprising folks with some homemade churros and coffee.
