Snag your seatbelt and sunglasses–this drive is the longest, but ends at the most gorgeous destination. We’re scaling Florida and dipping down south into the Gulf of Mexico. We’re then crossing the massive bridge over Choctawhatchee Bay for an afternoon at the beach. Henderson Beach State Park grants public access to sparkling blue water and hot, white sand for only $6/day.

Hungry at the beach? Drive seven minutes down the street to grab a bite at “The Other End”– a traditional American restaurant and bier garden built right on the water. The polished, outdoor picnic tables, passing sailboats, and live music give off the ultimate vacation vibes.

Only a few minutes from your final destination, pull over and board the USS Alabama Battleship ($15/person). Take advice from Yelper Michael C: “Go through crew quarters, see the medical stations, and even go inside one of the huge cannons. Make sure you take the time to look at the props in these rooms (old fashioned chocolate bars, magazines, and clothes).”
