Albuquerque's best kept secret, The Crown Room, was formally introduced to Yelp and the world over on Tuesday. An exceptionally limited group of Elites had the unique pleasure of gorging on absolutely elite eats, drinks and impeccable service. The five star reviews are rolling in. And while we'd love to showcase the useful, funny, cool personalities that got in on the fun, the true celebrity of the evening was the locale and all it encompassed, so let's get to it.
The drinks were unthinkable. "Samples" upon entrance (easily a half glass-full) included Monk's Dubbel Ale and Kicking Chicken aged barleywine, local craft brew superstars. Explosive cocktail offerings: a Manhattan and mint julip from Taos Lightening, Santa Fe Spirits Wheeler's Western Gin City, lest we forget a Dom Perignon-doused sorbet palette cleanser. Un.Believe.Able.
Moving on to the courses, all five of them. Early eats included an olive/deviled egg/jicama/tomato/cucumber spread, roasted oysters and Maryland lump crab cakes, with Ceasar and spinach salads (yummy bacon-wrapped scallops alongside) to follow.
Dinner? Devine. Sea bass, veal and filet mignon. The beef was butter knife sliceable, and the sides, like the black truffle mashed potatoes? Drooling ensued.
Dessert included a classic bananas foster (table side, of course), fresh berries, black forest and carrot cake.
To say the least, we were smitten. Across our clean-scraped plates, the Crown Room boasts some of the finest cuisine in the 505 with exceptional wait staff and hosts to boot. This two hour event ran nearly four hours. It's time to spread the word: get over here, pronto, and make a reservation!
Until next time,
