Hot off the press! July 21st, 2022 seemed like any other hot summer night in Whittier, California until you stepped into King Richard’s Antique Center for Yelp’s Roaring 20’s. Yelpers traded in their jean shorts and baseball hats for sequin flapper dresses and newsboy caps. Over 60 vendors and performers were stationed amongst the vast collectors items and vintage gems across King Richard’s four story warehouse.
King Richard’s Antique Center was such a unique venue to hold a 1920’s party, all the antiques and mini storefronts made the party like a gigantic scavenger hunt with vendors hiding in every nook and cranny of the shopping center.

600 Yelpers were first greeted with a beautiful balloon arch curated by Balloon Foo, and once they stepped inside, they were immediately transported to the Jazz Age with the talented Dan Dunshee of Sax ONE on the saxophone. Roaring performances continued throughout the night which included a swing performance from Time2Swing that knocked your socks off, the ultimate Charleston dance from Satin Glove Entertainment, and the sultry voice of Nicolette Holman singing ‘All That Jazz.’
Michele P said it best, “The samples were plentiful and the booths were diverse. I was met with many smiling faces and friendly sentiments. I arrived hungry and left extremely full.”
A Yelper Party would not be a true Yelp event without the cat’s meow of tastings from incredible businesses. Yelpers indulged in their fair share of chicken from businesses like Egg N Bird and Rockbird Gourmet Chicken Sandwiches and even had the chance to dive into orange chicken from the one and only Panda Express. A variety of cuisines were largely represented: asian cuisine with Saiga Vietnamese Eatery and Hibachi Catering to mediterranean with Limoné and even latin flavors with Perla Azul and Revolución Cantina. And of course, no party is complete without pizza! Angelina’s Famous Pizza and Pizza Guys brought out all the slices. There were also no shortage of desserts: from Porto’s Bakery & Cafe to Sol Flower, cookies from Budder’s Bakery, Japanese cheesecakes from Uncle Tetsu, and frozen yogurt from Yogurtland, attendees sweet tooths were sure fulfilled at this extravaganza. If breakfast was more their thing, there was Greek Yogurt from Ellenos Real Greek Yogurt, breakfast sandwiches from JUST Egg, and acai bowls from Ubatuba Açaí.
Food vendors were plentiful and it felt like I was at a food festival… If you consolidated the samples into one meal, this would still probably be one of the fanciest meals I’ve had in my life.

As Kevin C recalls, “Soup to nuts, there was no shortage of things to see and vendors to try.” The overflow of libations to cheers the end of the prohibition era put guests in the best of moods. From the hard seltzers Study Break, Drunk Fruit, Plant Botanical, and Kové to brews from Overtown, wine/spirits courtesy of Beatbox and Sam Simeon Wines, and those more splifficated enjoying Dulce Vida Tequila, Empress Gin 1908, and Firme Mezcal. Those abstaining from alcohol had plenty of choices from Mobar Coffee Co, Junbi, Good Idea, Topo Chico, and Raising Cane’s lemonade.
If you were lucky enough to grab a poker chip from the parading candy girls, you were invited to see the coveted speakeasy filled with magic from Beer & Magic and smooth cocktails from Blue Ice Vodka. To remember this remarkable party, SoCal 360 Booth and Stay Golden Photobooth gave Yelpers photos and 360 photobooth videos to cherish for decades to come.

Lastly, over $5,000 of funds were raised to the Ozzy Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization that was formed with this belief in mind, to help pet guardians with the financial costs of veterinarian bills and provide a supportive place for those caring for a chronically-ill pet. As Leo C pointed out, ‘the Roaring Twenties of excess and indulgence is well represented in today’s Yelp Event.’
Ain’t no party like a Yelper party!’ This was by far the best Yelp Event in my 13 years as a Yelp Elite!
