Yelp’s Summer Road Trip: Pittsburgh to Indianapolis


Summer’s in the air and we’re raring to hit the open road. Pack your bags and your phone charger because all you’ll need to kick some serious asphalt is your trusty Yelp app. Get those bookmarking fingers ready for the first of our five day tour of I-70, Pittsburgh, PA to Grand Junction, CO!

Duquesne Incline Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA

Kick the journey off by watching the sun rise over the Steel City at the country’s oldest funicular railway. Open 365 days a year, the Incline offers panoramic views of downtown Pittsburgh from the observation deck 400 feet above the three rivers.


Palace of Gold New Vrindaban, Moundsville, WV

Overlooking the Appalachian hills and valleys, the Palace of Gold New Vrindaban in Moundsville, West Virginia is worth the 17 miles. Home to more than 100 water fountains, this beaut is noted as one of the eight religious wonders to see in the US.


Pistacia Vera, Columbus, OH

Time to stretch your legs in Columbus, Ohio’s German Village and nab a snack at Pistacia Vera. Yelpers recommend the chocolate bombe (chocolate buttermilk cake with semi-sweet chocolate mousse infused with tawny port and glazed with a chocolate ganache). 


Levi Coffin House, Fountain City, IN

Next stop: Levi Coffin House, Fountain City, IN. Recently featured by Smithsonian Magazine as one of the Twelve New Museums to Visit in 2016. The home is known as “The Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad” after serving as a safe haven for hundreds of fugitive slaves on their journey to Canada.
