It's not every day you get to go to the second largest arcade in the US and play games until your eyes are about to burst from your head. But we did just that on a rainy, cold day in Austin. Yelpers arrived early for the madness, queuing up to be the first to get at the incredible selection of games available at Pinballz.
After grabbing a handful of tokens, elites were off to the proverbial races. Loading up on pre-gaming energy, they went into the goodie room to find more Gattis pizza than is almost humanly possible to consume, a bloody mary bar, screwdrivers made with Sobieski vodka and our favorite local brew, Independence Ale. Emily F indulged in "Independence Brewing's three fine flavors–Austin Amber, Convict Hill Oatmeal Stout and Bootlegger Brown. And a feisty screwdriver and mix up a bloody mary to cure Saturday night's revenge."
Melvin T dropped in from the great state of Oregon and had this to say: "Their collection of retro arcade takes a back seat to the pinball machines. The game I was most floored to see was the Retrun of the Jedi game. I love this game. It is so horrible. It has bad game play. It has bad mechanics. I just love it.I was like a giddy little 5th grader as I led the rebellion on a speeder bike, the MIllenium Falcon, and an AT-ST."
Wes O calls it like he "skees" it: "An altogether fun event involving cheap pizza, video game tokens, skeeball, and video games. It was like Showbiz Pizza without kids needing Adderal or disconcerting animatronic bears." Don't believe the hype? Believe it! Take a moment to read the reviews, gander at the pics by Jason Youngblood, check the video from Grace Sherry and start planning your own trip to Pinballzzzzz!
Until the next time, SYOY!
