Yelp’s Pley Date at Children’s Museum Tucson

On Thursday, June 6th the Children's Musuem Tucson opened its doors to welcome over 300 lucky Yelpers for the ultimate childhood throwback– Yelp's Pley Date! Yelpers partied themselves silly with 25 food and beverage sponsors, a live DJ, stilt-walkers, hula hoopers, glitter tattoo artists, face painters, tarot readers, massage stations, photo booths and more!

Yelpers didn't have to wait to get inside to get the party started. University Pedi-Cabs was cruising the streets and transporting yelpers to the party from neighboring parking garages. Upon their arrival, Kadooks! Costa Rican Fusion and Pin-Up Pastries greeted party-goers with samples from their food trucks all while the fabulous Cirque Roots showed off their stilt-walking skills. Waiting in line was far from dull. 
Collage 2Once inside the gates, Yelpers got in the groove with lively tunes provided by DJ Andy DePew from Satyr Entertainment. The courtyard was poppin' with breweries and delectable bites galore! Guests sipped and savored samples from Four Peaks Brewing Company, New Belgium Southern Arizona, Thunder Canyon Brewery, Boca Tacos Y Tequila, Jasper Neighborhood Restaurant and Bar, Hacienda del Sol, Zona 78, Umi Star, Magpies Gourmet Pizza and Whole Foods Tucson who also donated bottled water to beat the heat and keep our guests hydrated!

The Children's Museum Tucson opened every exhibit for Yelpers to get their PLEY on. Yelpers explored the exhibits with a drink in one hand and snack in the other! Courtesy of the Tucson Chapter of the United States Bartenders' Guild, our Pley-Time bar offered cocktails and samples from Reyka Vodka, Three Olives Tartz, Gates of London Gin, and Maestro Dobel Tequila. Wine lovers were treated to local wine and cheese pairings from locally owned Bear Track Winery & Bistro. Thanks to Nawgan Products, our guests stayed alert with samples of their "brainy beverages." Each exhibit came with more sweet and savory offerings from Jax Kitchen, Abbey Eat + Drink, Renee's Organic Oven, Panera Bread, Amelia Grey's Cafe & Catering, Uncle Bob's Popcorn, KIND Snack, Prayerfully Popped, Campus Candy and Pop Chips!Collage 4Yelpers explored the excitement the museum has to offer from the Ocean Discovery Center, to the Enchanted Rainforest and climbing into the firetruck and posing for pics on the Police Bike in Public Safety. Cirque Roots Productions entertained the crowd with Stilt-Walkers, Tarot Card reading, LED Hula Hoop magic, and dancers all night long. And the fun doesn't stop here! Yelpers got their sparkle on with glitter tattoos courtesy of Shimmer Pros, Face Painting by Adela Antoinette, body painting and more glitter tattoo art from Dream-It Be, and mini-massages from Spa Niva.  Collage 5

All this excitment can't be forgotten, so luckily the party had plenty of photo opps ready for memories in the making. PhotoFunBooth brought their photo booth and plenty of props for guests to pose with and even printed photos onsite for Yelpers to take home. Flipbook Memories invited guests to pose in front of their white screen and record seven seconds of fun that were instantly printed and turned into a flipbook of memories for each to take home! All while Pedro Romano Photography captured candid shots throughout the night.   Yelp Tucson's party partner, Arizona Party Rental, brought their know how and helped with all our party needs from the tables and linens to umbrellas for shade and even the official Arizona Party Rental Couch lounge for Yelpers to kick back and relax. Andy DePew of Satyr Entertainment made the night pop as our MC, DJ, lighting and sound extrodinaire! Collage 7Some lucky Yelpers went home with give-aways including gift cards for treatments from Spa Niva each valued at $125 and $60, a goodie bag from Kind Snack, and gift baskets from Four Peaks Brewing packed with pint glasses and custom swag!

The Children's Museum Tucson is a non-profit organization and a valuable community resource dedicated to providing a fun, educational and inspirational environment for children and families in Tucson. Yelp Tucson was pleased to partner with them on Yelp's Pley Date and thanks to the Yelp Community we raised over $2,000 from at the door donations. 100% of the proceeds went straight to the museum! Thanks to all our amazing sponsors, the Yelp Community and The Children's Museum Tucson staff and volunteers for an incredible night!
