On October 1st, elites in 7 Yelp communities
around the mideast (Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Indianapolis, Norfolk, NOVA,
and Pittsburgh) were treated to a sneak peek of The Bar at Outback Steakhouse’s
brand new $4 menu before it launched. Tasty
morsels like coconut shrimp with Creole marmalade, short rib steakhouse nachos,
Margherita flatbread, homemade BBQ chips with jalapeno ranch sauce, bloom
petals with spicy signature bloom sauce and bushman 'shrooms with spicy ranch
(WHEW!) were sampled by 50 elites at each location.Guests were also treated to samples of some of the new Bar bevvys like crisp red apple
martinis, signature sangrias and Angry Orchard hard apple cider along with
coupons to return for more bar treats. Each location also hosted an interactive
game from Aussie slang trivia to photo scavenger hunts to award one special
guest a gift basket packed with Outback goodies and gift cards.
Wanna know more about each event? Here’s what some folks had
to say!
In Norfolk elite Ashlea L said, "the flatbreads
were yummy and I even ate a shrimp off the floor (hasn't been the 1st time,
classy I know), but my favorite of the night had to be the fried
mushrooms!"
In Pittsburgh Keith M
"can't say enough about the quality and quantity of drinks at this event,
the excellent appetizers, and the friendly staff that we had at our small but
enjoyable evening mixing the Yelp elite. The bartenders were knowledgeable,
friendly, and fantastic. I know Tuesday is an off night, but go there, sit at
the bar, and let them take care of you."
Detroit elite Nathasja T raved, “we were seated at
the bar and very much enjoyed Mike and Brianna's friendly and prompt service,
and were impressed not only by their bar tending skills but also with their
knowledge of the (new) menu.”
In Columbus, Gwen W calls it, “a splendid event!
Yelp events are always awesome – great people, new locales and fabulous food!
Hands down, I absolutely loved the Coconut Shrimp with Creole Marmalade. The
dish – like all the others we were served – was fresh out of the kitchen. The
shrimp tasted fresh. The lightly battered coconut was prefect – not overly
sweet (wonderfully subtle)! I definitely plan on a future meal here.”
Indy’s DeAnna P
yelped, “The manager's service was impeccable and he could not have done more
to make us feel welcome and appreciated. Rum punch. Oh, mama, this is dangerous stuff. Not sure if this is one of those drinks with very little
alcohol or tons but you just cannot taste it. Either way, delicious and not too
sweet. I could drink a gallon of it (but I didn't).”

Many thanks to all
the folks who helped make these successful events in these varied markets!
In addition to the fab staff at the Outback locations our Community Managers
would also each like to take a moment to share some gratitude:
Xerxes N in Norfolk gives his thanks to Ed Stryker for shooting the event. Rachel C in Pittsburgh gives
high fives to South Hills proprietor Tobi
Frable and the wonderful staff of the Outback in South Hills an amazing
preview of the bar menu. Christina C in Columbus is thankful for photographer Jillian McKee Frazier and yelptern Mandy S. Annette J in Detroit is
sending major props to our main Outback contact Kim Coles, the staff at the Novi location, and yelptern Chelcie W for helping out for the
evening, and finally, Brittany S in Indianapolis sends loads of gratitude from
down unda to the entire Outback crew for their hospitality and Aussie
enthusiasm. Last but not least, thank you to the Indy Elite Squad for serving as our official unofficial
photographers for the night!
And finally one huge thanks to all the elites for coming out
and sampling all these goodies!
Hoo roo and SYOY,
