Yelp Oklahoma City was proud to host our first-ever open Yelper party, Yelp’s Hollywood Vintage on Thursday, May 30 at the Oklahoma History Center. The event raised $3,700 for the Salvation Army’s tornado relief efforts.
Thanks to KINDT Events, Tony Foss Flowers, Marianne’s Rentals and The Square Knot, the Oklahoma History Center was decked out in old Hollywood glamour. Yelpers showed up dressed to the nines and ready to party. After making their way past the paparazzi, Yelpers were treated to a champagne cocktail, courtesy of Cook’s and Local.
The entire atrium was filled with some of Oklahoma City’s best restaurants serving remarkable menus created just for this event. Yelpers savored artisan cheeses and meats from Forward Foods, chef’s sushi creations from GoGo Sushi and antipasto and bruschetta from The Wedge. Local served blackberry beef bon bons, prosciutto wrapped asparagus spears and a tobacco creme brulee and Hensley's Top Shelf Grill created a delicious lobster salad on toast points and chocolate mousse.
Mickey Mantle's Steakhouse served beautiful beef carpaccio, while Ned’s Catering presented hot spinach and artichoke dip with homemade pita chips and marinated chicken kabobs; Urban Wine Works made pulled pork sliders with Napa cabbage slaw. Drunken turtle pie from Pie Junkie made the menu perfectly complete.
The evening’s libations included Thorny Rose Pinot Grigio, Riesling and Red Blend; COOP Ale Works Horny Toad and Native Amber; Washita Wheat and Sixty-Six from Mustang Brewing; Amber and Granny Smith from Woodchuck Hard Cider. Yelpers could also select from one of our two featured cocktails, a SVEDKA Cherry Cran Cosmo and a Black Velvet Whisky Manhattan. T, An Urban Teahouse was also on hand serving iced Vanilla Black tea and iced Blood Orange tea.
The star treatment was in full effect at the party, thanks to a beauty bar and relaxation station provided by Revel Eight Salon. Yelpers could enjoy massage, aromatherapy treatments or be treated to a vintage hairstyle or mini-makeover. Polished Nail Salon was on hand (pun intended) to provide complementary nail art, as well as some fun nail care gifts just for stopping by.
Camera-ready revelers stepped into Todd Scott Ballje’s SNL Photo Booth to take fun photos with friends and fellow Yelpers. Artists from Tree & Leaf were also on hand doing caricatures of guests as well!
A raffle with over $900 in prizes from fifteen of OKC’s best local businesses sold almost 4,000 tickets! Among many other things, the raffle included a beautiful set of Honora stacking pearl bracelets courtesy of Samuel Gordon Jewelers and 2 All Access Passes to deadCENTER Film Festival. No one left empty handed, thanks to a Swag Bar with all kinds of free goodies for everyone at the party!
It was a wonderful evening celebrating Yelp in Oklahoma City and connecting Yelpers with some of our best local restaurants, breweries and businesses, all while helping raise money for tornado victims. Thanks to everyone who participated!
