When the occasion calls for it, Yelpers can glam it up with the best of them! Yelp's Golden Age — a Hollywood themed yelper party — brought out well-dressed yelpers, bloggers and media in droves, all bedazzled and bedecked in sequins and satin and furs. Mark E was blown away: "Is it possible to give this event ten stars? I was absolutely floored. From top-to-bottom, this was an event for the Yelp history books. From entertainment, booze, a huge array of amazing food, to the venue itself, I'm not sure where to begin."
Yelpers entered the event, after donating their $10 to Austin Music Foundation, to the sweet swingin' sounds of the Copa Kings. Billy & crew launched right into fabulous classic tunes as the perfect backdrop to an already swingin' evening. On the secondary stage, Brass Ovaries performed aerial manuevers and classic pole routines to add just a touch of sass!
Featured beverages from Shiner Beer, Segura Viudas, Olmeca Altos Tequila, Absolut Vodka, Jameson Whiskey, Strongbow Cider were all on the fabulous menu. For those with a bent towards the grape, Pioneer Wines brought Charles Smith Velvet Devil, Charles Smith Vino Pinot Grigio, Cartlidge Browne 2012 Sauvignon Blanc, AA Badenhorst Secateurs Red Blend.Thank goodness we had Zico Coconut Water & Texas Music Water there to hydrate between giant glasses of delectable drink.
And the food… oh the glorious food. A party ain't a party without some incredible local bites. Every food vendor brought the magic. Mighty Bird, Verts Kebap, Spartan Pizza, Liberty Tavern, Dos Batos, Reel Popcorn and Baby Zachs Smoked Hummus were all in evidence, stacked throughout the place like little food treasures. Pork shanks, taco piratas, a queso fountain(!!), Zeus pizza, lamb, rotisseried chicken, salt and vinegar popcorn, black bean smoked hummus… the amount of goodies was overwhelming! Austin's a food town and this party was no exception.
And the top floor. Terrace 59. That's where things got really glamorous, y'all. Benjamin Beau Salon poufed and curled and flat ironed everyone into high fashion, Hint of Shimmer's expert artists made our faces up like gorgeous movie stars, the Bearded Bastard oiled beards and waxed moustaches and & Sephora's three perfect lip looks ensured that nary a naked lip was seen.
Thankfully, Jennifer Byers was there to capture all this insanity and Snapfiesta Photo was snap snap snappin' away mid-venue. Want to see all those pics? Here ya go: Candid photos and SnapFiesta photos. The party would have taken a dark turn except for the fabulous uplighting and mastery of Sean from Austin Event Lighting.
Oh and that money? All of it went to Austin Music Foundation. We raised over $2000 for the AMF and yelpers who donated won prizes from b. alexandra bags, Dirty Dog, Sugar Circus, Austin Eats Food Tours, Austin Toros Tickets & Top Golf Entries from |GET|wise, powered by goSOCIALwise. Shannon B sums it up nicely: "Everyone was just having a ball and it was one of those memory-book nights that make me love living in Austin, Texas and being a Yelper even more."
Until the next time y'all… See you on Yelp!
