After last year’s successful month of well-being, Yelp’s Fit Club is back! Throughout 2017 we’re exploring new, fun, and different ways to get and stay healthy by visiting different places across the 207 once a month.
#YelpsFitClub kicked off the new year at Maine Warrior Gym where we spent a solid hour with personal trainers in the Strength Studio doing planks and squats, with an additional helping of squats and planks. Afterwards we were treated to free play in the ninja warrior training room. Check out the Reviews here.Bruce D: “Excited?!? I was nervous! I work out all the time however am intimidated by this type of gym. What we received was a well planned and challenging but not insane workout. The rotations, durations and excercises provided a safe level of individual effort in a group setting.”
In February a group of Yelpers met at Spotlight Dance Studio where we were introduced to STRONG by Zumba. No dancing here; this was 75 minutes of non-stop cardio (to an awesome beat) with a healthy dose of body weight training, too. Photos and Reviews from the day can be found here.
Ruby D: “I have not had this much FUN in a fitness class since I moved to Maine. And boy I sweated! The class was the perfect balance between great music, core/total body workout, awesome dance move, and girl empowerment roaring ;).”
We ended the winter season of #YelpsFitClub gently with Ashley Flowers Yoga. She treated a group of Yelpers to an intimate all levels class that focused on mindfulness, balance, and strength. Check out the Reviews and Photos here!
Amanda B: “Ashley did an amazing job guiding us through the poses and allowing us to go at our pace. I loved that she encouraged us to close our eyes and do as much of the class as we could without the visual interruption.”
