Yelp’s Fermented Funk Fest 2.0

Imagine this: the ultimate fall-time Sunday Funday, fermented-style. Yelpers from Indianapolis ventured into the world of fermentation at the hidden gem of a venue, The Fitness Farm, for Yelp’s Fermented Funk Fest 2.0.

Yelpers were greeted with a Yelp mug to reduce the environmental impact from the event as well as coupons from Smoking Goose.The sun was shining with a perfectly brisk breeze blowing through the outdoor venue.  

The grounds were filled with local businesses offering samples and selling products that undergo the fermentation process, as well as educating Yelpers on the special process. 

Easley Winery and Sip & Share Artisanal Wines delivered on their fermented grape products; while Four Day Ray Brewing offered three different beers with hands-on activities to learn more about brewing. Tailored Toddies sampled and sold homemade mixers to up your next cocktail game, and Indy Coffee Box warmed the crowd with a variety of delicious local coffees. 

And what would a fermented funk fest be without fermented teas (kombucha)?! Circle Kombucha brought a SCOBY to show how kombucha is made, Primal Delights brought their new fermented hot sauces, krauts, and kimchis, and SonShine Kombucha showed off their fermented tonics to keep your immune system up! Just in time for winter.

Yelpers raved about how delicious the autumn miso soup from Ukiyo was, especially when paired with one of Native Bread’s health-conscious breads. Metta Gardens surprised everyone with creative, multi-flavored krauts and kimchis. 

To make the event even more amazing, The Flower Box by Createralla passed out flowers to Yelpers and Simplicity Cold Press Juice sampled fresh juices. Funky tunes by Alex Franc Music echoed throughout the event while the Fitness Farm team led yoga sessions. Jason Michael Thomas from Urban Awareness Gardens took things into the kitchen and shared secret tips about baking sourdough bread and creating kimchi at home. 

Last year, Elites dove into the world of Fermentation at The Cyrus Place for Yelp’s (first-ever) Fermented Funk Fest and we can’t wait to continue celebrating in the future.
