On a brisk October evening 25 Yelp elites gathered for an Autumn themed Beer Dinner. What they didn't know? They were in for FIVE flavor packed courses paired with unlimited Samuel Adams awesomeness!
Yelpers started the night with "The Perfect Pint" of Samuel Adams Oktoberfest. Elaine W was surprised to learn, "how the shape of the Sam Adams glass contributes to a stronger, fresher taste and was surprised by how much science goes into the crafting of the beer and the glass!"
The perfect pair for the perfect pint of Oktoberfest? Soft Pretzels and Beer Cheese of course!
The first course was a Brown Butter, Corn, and Crab Veloute Soup paired with Latitute 48 IPA. Amy E admits, "I loved every single course, but I would say my favorite was the veloute– so rich and creamy" and it paired very well the the IPA. Plus the popcorn was a super creative touch!
Alison the Samuel Adams Beer Representative for Kentucky was nice enough to join us for the evening and walk us through the entire Beer Dinner. Her steps to getting the most out of your beer?
Step One: Look at the Beer. Examine the color in all it's beauty.
Step Two: Smell the Beer. Pick up hints of flavors you wouldn't get from just tasting.
Step Three (and the Yelpers favorite): Taste the Beer.
Kara C shares, "The beer rep, Alison, was really friendly and I felt lucky to sit near her. She was engaging, funny, and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed all of the beers and ciders but especially liked the double bock. It was fun to try all of the different varieties" and learn how they paired with each course.
The second course was a Carmelized Pear Salad with a Pomegranate Vinaigrette, Blue Cheese & Pistachios paired with Angry Orchard's limited edition Iceman. "I enjoy Angry Orchard but had never heard of the Iceman variety." Now that I've tasted it, "I have to track down a bottle!" -David M
The third course and choice entree was a Seared King Salmon, Spagetti Squash, Cranberry and a Pumpkin Seed Pesto paired with Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Nate S had the salmon entree and "can't stop dreaming of that pumpkin seed pesto!"
The other third course choice entree was a delicious Beef Tenderloin, Carmelized Brussel Sprouts, and Bernaise paired with their Double Bock. And just when we thought there couldn't be any more surprises the chef himself came out and drew names for four gift certificates to come back to Mitchell's!
Last but certainly not least the final course of the evening and one that everyone still can't stop raving about was the Pumpkin Creme Brulee made with real pumpkin and topped with Pistachios and Candy Corn. This course paired perfectly with the Samuel Adams Creme Stout.
"Gotta give Cindy a serious shout-out for organizing a really fine event and bringing Sam Adams, Mitchell's Fish Market, and Cincy Elite Yelpers together." It was the best event I have ever been to and I "can't recommend this group highly enough, it's just a lot of fun!"

A special thank you to Jason, the entire staff at Mitchell's, and Alison for making this Fall themed Beer Dinner better than I could have ever imagined!
