only a few months ago, Craftsmen Kitchen & Tap House was the
place to be on Tuesday night. Because it's a newer place, many of the
Charleston Elite Community hadn't had the chance yet to
check out this rustic renovation of the old Johnsons Pub which has now been
transformed into a copper palace of craft beer. The front room, a.k.a. the IPA
room, houses 12 taps of extra hoppy brews, but turn the corner and you will
find the main bar boasting an additional 36 taps for a grand total of 48
of the 48, Craftsmen was kind enough to allow our thirsty
brood to choose from twelve different session beers ranging the spectrum from
dark to light coming from breweries near and far. For those who worship the
dark side, Breckenridge Vanilla Porter was a popular pick
and if you had a penchant for the lighter things in life, the Kona Longboard was right up your pipeline.
Even though it was nighttime, the All Day IPA from Founders Brewing kept the hop seekers happy.
For those not who don't drink the oat soda, Craftsmen offered a red and a white wine as
well. For the record, Joy S
was called out by yours truly for choosing the wine over all the delicious suds
but, it turns out she was drinking beer from a wine glass because there were no
more beer glasses available – cheers to your ingenuity!
things started picking up, the food started to come out… and it just kept
coming. Plate after plate emerged from the kitchen and was set down on the bar
or one of the tables. Craftsmen knows their beer for sure and Chef
Todd Garrigan knows the perfect food to accompany that beer. Mirroring items
off of their regular menu, samples included Bratwurst on Pretzel Rolls, Tomato
Flatbread, Lil Sloppy Joes, Potato Bombs with House Bacon, Pork Belly Bites,
and General Tso's Chicken Wings. Everything he does is created in house with
the exception of the breads, which are sourced locally from Brown's Court
Bakery. Excellent fare all around!
we all know these beer-centric bites and banging brews didn't serve themselves
to us. Craftsmen's first string bartenders and
servers kept the libation alive and satisfied our hunger with the utmost
attention and were the MVP's of this beer bash. Yelpers were able to swipe up
the best of Yelp schwag and one lucky Yelper won two tickets to an upcoming
beer dinner at Craftsmen for her on-point check-in skills.
Craftsmen made a big splash with the Yelp Elite Community in every way and Liz
L puts it best, "Craftsmen was a perfect venue for this, the
service, food, and drinks were fabulous. Not better than the attendees of
course, but right on par." Make sure to peek at the rest of the photos and
