For 5 entire days of awesomeness Yelp Louisville took over NuLu and Butchertown to show them the love! We had several stops along the way to add our stamp of approval in this Passport to NuLu/Butchertown. An 80's Ballin' Brunch, Mayan Cafe CMYE dinner, Meet the Meat Owner and Happy Hour, fabulously fun schwag, and shopping galore!
What better way to kick off Yelp's Passport to NuLu/Butchertown May 12-16 than a Garage Bar brunch, ping pong tournament, and Passport Back to the 80's?
The balls were flying and the Bloody Marys and Breakfast Shandys flowing. We had photo ops in our loud 80s gear with the assistance of the box of neverending silliness and photobooth from Magbooth.
Those that were ballsy enough entered the single elimination ping pong tournament. AK-47 and The Shredder whipped those balls back and forth in the finals, where the Shredder left with a goody bag of 80s awesomesauce. Just remember, there's no crying in ping pong.
The reviews say it all! We went to a restaurant constantly called the "best" and "most" followed by other positive words for a Community Manager Yelp Event. We got to sample two of Mayan Cafe's signature dishes – the Tok-sel Lima Beans and the black bean & goat cheese salbute appetizer. Yum!
And what better way to spend Happy Hour and to wrap up Yelp's Passport to NuLu/Butchertown than sipping on the most coveted cocktails at Meat in Butchertown? Yelpers were transported back to the days of Prohibition – at this Speakeasy bar with a butcher shop "cover," where they sampled 2 unique cocktails and had a taste off. Who could guess the most of the 8 ingredients in each one? Chelsey C dominated on the In Bloom and a tie on the Pulled Punch led to a shake-off tie-breaker between the two Adams. A close call, but both perfected their bartending skills and Adam L walked away with a lovely bottle of tequila.
Adios yelpers! Check out more pics on our flickr page, and until next time, see you on Yelp!
