Taking out Yelp's 100 Days of Summer Kickoff Event series with a bang would be a severe understatement. The last shindig of a 4-part series, Yelp's Summer SOULstice Disco Dance Party at Playhouse in Hollywood, was a groovy night, baby! The premier Hollywood club venue played host to a large yelpy, bell bottom wearing, disco fro'ing, hot pants partying crowd. The disco-theme was not lost on these decade adorned dudes and dudettes, no sir. DJ Justin Seyser treated dancing-shoed guests with hits from the '70s and beyond, lighting up the dance floor with hot boogie woogie moves all night long. Playhouse staff cocktailed their way into hearts and livers creating Cupcake Vodka cocktails with Dry Soda, as well as keeping glasses full of flipflop wines and bubbly and New Belgium beer downstairs. Upstairs, there were delicious Hard Luck Candy Vodka numbers catering to those with a sweet tooth and a dry mouth!
How about a cupcake when you first walk in? No problem thanks to Sweet Red Peach's glorious display of flavors that filled up mojo tanks immediately (banana pudding, for instance). They moved right along to the savory set brought by Dave's Catering and Event Planning featuring a tuna wontons and goat cheese crostinis. More mouth-watering fare was found displayed downstairs, where foodies indulged in cookies and chocolate "mouth orgasms" from DeLuscious Cookies & Milk, as well as Filipino-style hot dogs from Discussion Truck.
When guests weren't doing The Shuffle, they were admiring the works of Home For Good's resident artist, our non-profit for the evening, as well as mingling with LA Derby Dolls who strutted their roller derby stuff all over the place! In addition, Flash Life Photo Booth was on hand to snap away the shennanigans and provide guests a little take-home gift they're bound to display on many a mirror and scrapbook.
We raised over $1200 for United Way's Home for Good and celebrated the coming LA Summer in serious disco style. Huge thanks to all the sponsors and Unboxed Images for the flawless photos. Check them out on LA Flickr Page, and read the reviews here. Every guest got home safe thanks to Uber.
