Yelp Cincy's Leveling Up Elite Event was one for the record books. There was food, fun, cocktails, desserts, and we even got to play dress-up! What more could you ask for?
Over 100 Yelpers came out to celebrate this very special World Premier Event. The night started out with a cocktail hour including open bar and a smorgasbord of delicious food from Funky's Catering.
"The cocktail hour was definitely fun filled. The cocktail of the evening, the 'Green Room', was very tasty and probably went down a little too smooth!" – Dawn P
Jon C gushes, "There was an amazing spread of cured meats, cheeses, bruschetta and there were rotating hors d'oeuvres which were all delicious, being brought around on serving platters. Everything I had was extremely tasty!"
The Playhouse set up a really cool interaction board where people could contribute a little peice of their own gamer world. The board will remain up the entire length of the show. It was really neat to see other peoples answers to questions like, "What was the first video game you ever played?"
Getting creative with the props was a no-brainer! Susan L shares, "Some of the props I recognized for various plays, like the little Audrey
from Little Shops of Horror. People had fun taking
pictures with the props especially, the swords and oversized sissors."

Yelpers even got to try on real costumes from past performances at The Playhouse. "Who hasn't always wanted to don the garb that they see on
the stage!" – Danae B
To top it off they even had a make-up station staffed with professional make-up aritists! "The make-up effects booth was too cute, and so many people got dolled up
in scars, mustaches, bruises. The bruises looked so real I kept wanting
to ask people if they were okay!" – Emily R
Even after we were filled to the brim, Yelpers couldn't help but indulge in Funky's full dessert and coffee bar. Nikki F recalls, "The dessert room should've been called dessert doom because we ate four
desserts! In our defense two of them were small ( evil laugh ) The
carrot cake and the lemon meringue blew our minds!"
Yelpers made their way into the theatre where the Artistic Director Blake Robison said a few words about the Playhouse and introduced us to the world preimer of "Leveling Up." Now I don't have any pictures because this was super top secret stuff, but let's see what the Yelpers had to say:
"There was a great balance of comedy and drama. I've been to some well-known plays, but none
have been as thought-provoking to me as Leveling Up. I would highly
recommend seeing it." – Marco Z
"The set was utterly disgusting, but also perfect. It reminded me of my
parents' basement: food wrappers and gaming controllers everywhere. DDR
pads that you need to shake the crumbs off of." And the arguments between the characters sometimes felt awkward and
uncomfortable, like when you were witnessing it in real life. I though that was very nicely done." – Lauren M
"From the complimentary easy parking, to the ample open bar and food
spread, to the theatrical props and makeup, to the festive atmosphere,
to the entertaining show… it was a fantastic evening from start to
finish." – Cynthia R
