London Yelpers are a passionate group, never more so than when they sing their heart out.
Yes, it was a night of great food and drinks and terrible
singing at Yelp Gets Karaoked Away at Lucky Voice.
This gem of a karaoke bar was ready to go as yelpers walked
through the door. A giant long brightly-lit bar treated everyone to a nice cold
mojito and beer to get them ready for the awkward singing ahead.
“The night was amazing! I
brought two Yelp noobs and they had a great time! The Asahi was perfect after
coming in from the nice hot sunny day outside and the mojito was really nice and
refreshing,” Amy S declared. Although she does have one more add on: “But let
me apologise to everyone in room 5 who had to listen to me singing all night
and had to see my gosh awful air guitar/squiggle dance.” Its ok, we’ll
pretend we didn’t see a thing.
The night was made all the better by the delicious pizza
that kept streaming out into the main room, made fresh right there by Lucky
Voice. “I hovered over the freshly made pizzas. There
was quite a selection of different to eat such as plain cheese, pepperoni, a
spicy beef one, some chicken with veggies.” Connie M listed out. “Anyway, after
pigging out, we all went to sing!”
It was, of course, the singing that headlined the evening.
Five purple glowing private karaoke rooms were laid out for the yelpers
harmonic pleasure, each filled with thousands of songs, two microphones, flashing
lights and boxes full of props to really make it a show.
“Last night was some of the
best fun I've had with a mic in ages though,” Tristan J sang out. “Was it
because we had longer than 2 hours to sing (we were the eager beavers who went
into the room unprompted minutes after we'd arrived)? Was it because some of
the other rooms were filled with yelpers? Was it the sunshine?” We say
yes to all of the above, Tristan!

When the end time hit, people still hadn’t sung their final
note, so the bar let us stay until 11pm, singing until they were horse. Jhenn S
puts it best as she recounts her karaoke adventures:
“I get a little… karaoke
crazy. But with Yelpers so upbeat and decent song choices available, no
depressing songs were sung. Hurray! Nothing like bonding with new friends while
singing. Dancing and fist pumping and various other callisthenics were had in
the rooms, especially after Alex secured a room until 11 instead of 9. Whatta
baller.”
The London Index even came by to snap a few shots and
document the night! And we loved that they captured all our awkwardness:
It was truly a fantastic time (and boy can some London
Yelpers sing!) But don’t just take our word for it. But don’t just take our word for it. You can read all the reviews right here as well as check out all the pics by Jason Ellis on the Official Yelp Flickr Page.
Until next song,
