The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper… And so, in preparation for all hallows, Yelp Vancouver and Vancouver Fanclub created a feast of the senses. Live music, lovely libations and a glimpse into the future – it was a spirited night for the spirits.
The best mischief demands the very best in liquid libations. Thankfully, our friends at Parallel 49th Brewery are masters of mischief, and what suits a New Orleans voodoo party more then Gyspy Tears Ruby Ale? An Elite favourite, Andrea P notes, "Parallel 49's Gypsy Tears continues to impress." Not to be outdone, Titos Handmade Vodka. was as "tasty as ever." Artfully twisted into Fanclub's Social Wild Card cocktail, they were "deadly, and delicious!" (Dru C) And rounding out a trifecta of all hallows week mischief making? Why, an exclusive rum tasting of course! Juan Santos & Panama Red Rum. turned the Fanclub's Bourbon Room on it's ear! "The rum-tasting was one of the highlights" for Sarah D. "It was interesting to compare the different aged rums side-by-side, and by the end of the tasting I could tell everyones cheeks were getting a little rosy."
With such a selection to sip on, it's a very good thing that the Fanclub's kitchen spared nothing when it came to decadent nibbles. Prawn Corndogs, Pulled Pork Sliders, Roasted Veggie Skewers, Flatbread Pizza and Wild Mushroom Tarts – the fare was "so good. I couldn't control myself." (Brian D) "The different flavours of pizza were delicious and pork sliders were a big hit with the crowd." (Sanaz J)
An event with live music is always entertaining. But an event with two different types of live music, a tarot reader and a professional photobooth? Well that's an Elite Event! And entertained we were – Vancouver Fanclub showed off their multilevel room, their funky visuals and their pipes – starting us off with house piano player Mike Van Eyes and finishing the evening with an hour of tunes from the Moriarty Trio on the mainstage. Meanwhile, guests got a glimpse into the future (or some sight on the past) with tarot readings from Laura Oracle and then hammed it up at the most extravagant and spooky of photobooths – staged by the vivacious vixens of East Vanity Parlour and shot by Shimona Henry of Pin Up Perfection.
A huge thank you to Dani Vachon and the fantastic owners and staff of Vancouver Fanclub for rolling out the red carpet!
Love to Jeff & 49 Parallel Brewery for craft brew love; Markus, Dick & Titos Handmade Vodka for lulling us into cocktail heaven; Susan, Jocelyn, Juan Santos & Panama Red Rum for turning this scotch sweetie onto a 21 year old aged rum fan; Shimona Henry & Lindsay Elliot for being the best paparazzi a lady could ask for and Mr. Portland himself, Don B for helping hands.
Live music. Great drinks. Decadent nibbles. Badass piano playing. And your CM in a burlap sack… this went down as one of Vancouver's finest! Read the reviews (and pen your own!) here. Snoop the fly on the wall photography ℅ our resident rockstar Lindsay Elliott and the photobooth shenanigans.
Until next time you wonderful creatures,
