Unless you've been hiding under a rock, you've heard the buzz about Clownvis Presley. Part singing sensation, part clown, and 100% St. Louis original, Mr. Presley was kind enough to sit down with Yelp's own Abby S, to let us know what makes him tick… err, honk.
Abby S: We all know that Clownvis performs all over St. Louis, but where do you enjoy performing most?
Clownvis: I do most of my big shows at The Fox Hole, inside Atomic Cowboy. It's the most unique complex in town, with things like a dunk tank, skateboard ramps, and a fire pit. I love it there! But I must say, the club with the most heart in St. Louis has to be The Way Out — that's where Clownvis cut his teeth.
Abby S: After a show, where do you like to grab a late night snack… say, a fried peanut butter and bacon sandwich?
Clownvis: Oh man, I love a good snack! South City Diner is always a hit. They're adding a "Clownvis Special" to the menu, made of Circus Peanut waffles, vegetarian bacon and ice cream.
Abby S: Sounds delicious! Along the same lines, what does Clownvis like to drink? Where do you hang up the jumpsuit and kick back with a cocktail?
Clownvis: Clownvis is proudly sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon. so per contract I must say that PBR is my favorite drink. My favorite local bars are The Royale and The Bleeding Deacon.
Abby S: If you could open up for any act, who would it be?
Clownvis: Huh? I'm the headliner, baby! But I'd like to have Pauly Shore open one of my shows someday. I get a kick out of "The Weeeasssle"!
Abby S: Speaking of unique hairdo's, at which local salon would a Clownvis wannabe achieve your famous pompadour?
Clownvis: My hair is a big job, but the boys at American Classic Barbershop on Chippewa always do me up nice.
Abby S: Where do you get those fancy getups?
Clownvis: My suits are custom made by the famous Joe "Squiggles" Peadrickson. He designed suits for Bozo in the 1970's and worked with Meatloaf in the 1980's. In the past five years he has worked exclusively with Clownvis.
Abby S: What does Clownvis do for fun?
Clownvis: Ride things like motor scooters, unicycles, ferris wheels, and the occasional horse. I also enjoy sight-seeing and going to kid's birthday parties.
Abby S: Inquiring minds want to know: Is there a Mrs. Clownvis Presley?
Clownvis: Anyone who researches my past can find quite a history of love stories. Some true, most false or elaborated. Truth is, I'm a roustabout, a ramblin' man, a spirit in the wind, a desperado, a loner, a rebel… 'aint no woman gonna tie this clown down!
Abby S: And probably the most important question of the day. Provel: Yay or nay?
Clownvis: Oh, very yay. I am a real cheese nut and I have to say that in my travels, I have not found nearly enough Provel cheese in America. St. Louis is lucky to have that cheese.
Abby S: Well I know you're a busy man, Clownvis, so thanks for taking time out to talk with me today.
Clownvis: Thank you, thank you very much!
