Any Olivia Newton-John fans in the house? Apparently we've got more than a couple in the Yelp Singapore Elite Squad as we gathered to work up a sweat at one of Singapore's newest, coolest gyms.
Ritual says they are here to help you do what you already know is good for you – exercise.
In their words, they've stripped down the process to the bare essentials, and made sure your training experience is effective, no-nonsense, and most importantly, respectful of your time. Each session is designed to last just 30 minutes, from the time you step in the door to the minute you leave. You don't even have to bring any gym gear – they've got everything you need, towels and shower facilities included! The Elites were most pleased.
As first-timers, we began with a simple fitness assessment for coaches Naz, Mubin, Kai, Amirr and Shrek (Yes, that's his real name) to get an idea of what fitness level we were at, and also show us some of the basic exercises and made sure that we maintained our posture. That got some of us breaking a sweat… and wondering what the full session would be like! And in minutes, the soundtrack changed, and we were about to embark on a solid workout!
The next 18 minutes were a blur – from push ups, to squat pull ups, to kettlebell lifts, to medicine ball squats, and finally burpees, with 20 seconds of rest in between. Set after set, coaches made sure to watch out for our postures, and kept the mood and energy up with loads of encouragement.
After the final set, coaches sent high-fives and fist bumps all around as we caught our breath and headed to the Shake Bar. Shake Maestro Darren whizzed up some ridiculously tasty protein shakes that were full of nutrients to help our bodies recover from the workout. How thoughtful! As we sipped (or gulped) those down, Program Designer and All-round Handsome Man Ian was on hand to talk us through the workouts he designs, and why posture and diet is so important.
Big thanks once again to the awesome and inspiriing crew and Ritual – Ian, you and your guys pushed us hard, and we can't wait to go back! To check out all the pictures, click this link, and don't forget to leave your review here too!
Peace and a protein shake,
