We took a look at the The Paper + Craft Pantry in East Austin and got the scoop from business owner, Pei Sim, in this Yelp Shop’s Local Spotlight. Her holiday tips and tricks and opinions on eggnog are below..
What makes your business the best place to get gifts this holiday season?
We work alongside fellow small business owners to feature their goods and work in our shop. We take time to seek out new and emerging stationery designers that the guests in our shop may have never heard of and look for goods are of the best quality! We also know the stories of each of the makers we work with 🙂
What is your favorite local Austin business (that isn’t your own)?
Do I only have to choose one? There’s so many! For baked goods, definitely Mindy’s Bake Shop. For vintage finds, The Distillery, Pieceology Vintage and Rust & Pearls. For plants, Tillery St./East Austin Succulents, The Fox Den and Frond. For coffee, Fleet, Mañana, Figure 8!
Eggnog, best drink ever, or..?
I prefer warm cider or peppermint hot chocolate!
What is your favorite part about the holidays?
Enjoying the crisp weather, burning a delicious smelling candle and dessert!
What’s the perfect gift to bring to a holiday party?
What inspired you to start your small business?
I started my small business while still working a corporate job and a couple of other part-time jobs. I’m a self-taught doodler/illustrator who turned my little designs into stationery! Once that took off and got off the ground, it was really easy to identify that I loved paper as well as all the people I got to work with. I wanted to create a space with The Paper + Craft Pantry where I could feature amazing stationery designers and other independent makers. I also wanted a space that would be a place where we could co-host incredible workshops, classes, and events for our community!
When we stop by, what can we expect to find at your shop this holiday season?
A thoughtfully selected collection of holiday cards and stationery along with lots of wonderful independently made gifts!
