Last night Yelpers were lucky enough to be some of the very first visitors at the luxurious Terrace Hotel. The stunning boutique hotel only opened its doors for the first time to the general public three hours before the guests of the last Yelp Perth Elite Event for 2012 arrived.
The building, built in 1892, has been refurbished with immense care and attention to detail and is sure to please the seasoned business traveller, discerning tourist or sophisticated city Yelper.
Guests enjoyed canapés from Executive Chef, Shannon Wilson’s kitchen. Having spent nearly 10 years in London working in several high-end restaurants such as The Botanist and The White Swan, Shannon’s approach to The Terrace Hotel’s cuisine reflects a true WA style using the finest WA produce.
Guests were lucky enough to get a guided tour of the uniquely sophisticated hotel, which retains the art deco charm of the Heritage-listed St George’s House. After ascending the beautifully restored jarrah staircase, and being dazzled by the crystal chandeliers we got a sneak peak at the lavish rooms. The art, fireplaces and furnishings with luxurious finishings evoked feelings of the Great Gatsby era of the 1920s.
The Yelpers' favourite room was by far the wine vault. A fully humidified and acclimatised space; the contents – 3000 carefully selected and guarded bottles – which can be seen from St George’s Terrace.
All the Yelpers will be heading back to the Terrace Hotel as soon as possible for after work drinks, dinner or their next function.
A massive thank you to Meg and everyone at the Terrace Hotel for opening the doors to their beautiful hotel for us for the evening. It was a truly stunning affair.
See you at the next one and SYOY until then!
