Who needs a glass?
Wine tasting, a known love of many, but add the word ‘natural’ to the mix and you suddenly see many a quizzical brow. Questions like: What is the difference between normal wine and natural wine? Does natural wine get you more drunk? And the follow up: does natural wine give you a bigger hangover? Were just some of the questions the Yelp London Elites quizzed our sommelier, Seb, on as we enjoyed an evening of natural wine tasting and antipasti at Yield N16.
Yield N16, tucked away in London’s Newington Green neighbourhood, prides itself in providing a natural, authentic and artisanal experience to all who enter. By only working with small and trusted independent providers, they are able to provide handmade top quality produce and a truly local ‘farmhouse table or the country market’ atmosphere which is rare to come by here in the ever busy, ever artificial London.
There was a warm, friendly buzz in the air as the Yelp London Elites arrived and took their seats for the evening. The wine began to flow and Seb took to explaining each wine with his breadth of knowledge:
“It was over to the extremely knowledgeable Seb who did a brilliant job of educating us all. Unlike other wine tastings I’ve been to he didn’t bore us with what the nose (or whatever the technical term is….) of the wine should be (usually wet dog, horse, or burnt toast from my experience!) but instead gave a very interesting and entertaining description of what natural wine actually is, how it’s made etc.” Emma W.
Then, the elites were served a selection of their locally sourced charcuterie, which was strong to the taste but complimented the selection of natural wines which were presented:
“Besides the great tasting wine, strong flavoured and scented cheese alongside the somewhat (okay very) moreish fresh bread and salmon, my expectations were exceeded.” Vanessa S.
The wine continued to flow and many a laughs and wine knowledge shared. Want to know more about the evening? Read all the Yelp London Elite reviews HERE!
