Yelp Las Vegas Rocks A Block On Fremont For 89XXXhibition

Whether they were repping the 101 or the 117, Las Vegas Yelpers kicked off 89XXXhibition with block-rocking eats, treats and cultural happenings at the Fremont Street Experience. The 10-day exhibition and series of events exploring and celebrating the community and culture of Vegas is a partnership with the Contemporary Arts Center. Of course, every exhibition deserves a party, and this is how the 89XXX got it started.

A celebration isn't complete without delicious fare, and a diverse selection of some of the valley's finest restaurants and food trucks were on hand to sample their menus. There were fresh tacos from Taco Taco, sweet island-style shave ice by Oso Ono Shave Ice, Korean-influenced tacos by Sauced, malasadas and sliders at Island Sushi and Hawaiian Grill, jalapeno fries and taco-nauts (crispy wonton skins with grilled miso salmon) prepared by Flying Monkey Truck, mole tamales and panuchos at Chicken Itza's booth, non-stop candy from Sweet Spot Candy Shop, and Baltimore-style snoballs by Sin City Snoballs & Snacks. 

And although the thermometer hit 106, there were plenty of libations to keep the revelers cool, including drinks mixed and tended by Back Bar USA (featuring Jacob's Ghost, Pinnacle Peach and Tropical Punch and Hornitos Lime Shot) alongside Nevada Beverage featuring Alaskan Brewing Company, plus Vita Coco with Coconut Water and Coco Café and Xyience energy drinks. Mobile Misting helped keep everyone even cooler with their mobile cooling devices sponsored by CenturyLink. 

Eating and drinking weren't the only pleasantries! To keep Yelpers on their toes Comparsa Fiesta Morelense performed their traditional Mexican dance complete with incredible constumes; Dewey Street Crafters inspired attendees to craft their personal flag; Paint And Party painted the night away; Kids In The Attic pulled off live screenprinting; and LV Photo Party provided everyone with a photo to remember the evening from their photo booth. Plus, there were special guests from the Atomic Testing Museum and Life Is Beautiful and a TV Lounge provided by CenturyLink. To be ensured the arts were represented, 89XXX (a zine created by LV Zine Library) was released, Anarchala completed a live performance art installation, and the Contemporary Arts Center invited everyone to participate in "My Las Vegas Community Interactive Art."
