Another year, another successful Yelp Shops Local campaign, as evidenced by the enthusiastic guests and vendors at Yelp's Holiday Market: Nifty Under $50 at Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake. On Thursday, December 19, the Yelp LA Community braved the wet, rainy conditions to do some last-minute holiday shopping, pampering, and boozing/fooding. With a gaggle of over 50 local artisans showing off their hand-crafted wares – all under $50 no less – the beautiful sound stage studios were filled with grand cheer and lots of credit card swiping (all going to local businesses!).

Mack Sennett Studios provided a labyrinth of a landscape to wind through, complete with a little LA history tucked in for good measure. Each stage hosted a bevvy of unique gifts like bow ties from Bowdacious, Dear Doggy treats and accessories, dainty gems from Rossmore, Amanda K Lockrow, Liza Shtromberg Jewelry, Strangers, Charlie and Marcelle, Pet Pigeons, and Kashi CoOp, and home goods carved from old wine barrels a la Winey Guys. Guests were caught two-fisting (encouraged!) Segura Viudas and Firestone Walker beverages, as well as snacking on Krave Jerky, Pretzel Crisps, and ips All Natural.

There were plenty of delicious sweet treats available for purchase as well thanks to The Donut Snob, Les Beaux Chocolats, Fancy Boyz, The Kandy Jar, Sugar Beak Bakery, Velvet Rope Bake Shop, Mwokaji Cakery, Baby Bea's Bakeshop, Ladybug Fortune Cookie, Action Cookies, The Copper Box Candy Company, and Pacific Cheesecake Company. Those that like to cook at home benefitted from having Savour This Sauce, Preservation Society, and Ayara Thai Sauces on hand! Hubert's Lemonade, Almond Milk LA, Better Booch, and The Humble Cup helped wash all that goodness down. Plenty of giveaways from AFC Trading, Washio, and Megabus kept attendees entertained, as well as body-moving beats from DJ Steven Lam of Sound Space Lab.

More creative presis were found at the Oxford Accessories, EJH Brand, Gloves by Katherine, FleaPop, Ram Fam Pottery, Bloom2Bloom, and Leanna Lin's Wonderland (complete witha bracelet-making station!) booths. Paper good aficianados geeked out at Hero Design and ilootpaperie, while fashionable finds were at every corner thanks to Urban Octopus, Orangeheat, Fleet Collection, Rojas Clothing, Paola Loves to Shop, Bad Pickle Tees, and Le Fashion Truck. Those who decked the halls with sweet purchases took advantage of pampering themselves at the Chella brow bar station, Point de Vue Salon braid/eyeliner room, Kure Spa accent nail chair, and Hair Charmsies glam area. Those that spent more than $50 were treated to a plate from BellyBombz, who was parked outside ready to feed the masses!

In the spirit of giving, Ronald McDonald House was on site collecting donations and designated items to help continue to provide comfort, care and support to children and families in Southern California. We raised over $700 and a van-size worth of goods for a great cause!
A big thank you to all the generous sponsors, specifically our venue, Mack Sennett Studios, and Unboxed Images for preserving the night in the form of pics and a video! If you snapped a selfie of yourself in the Uncropp'd photo booth, find your mug here. All other pics can be found on the Yelp LA Flickr page. Need a good read before the end of the year? Take a gander at the review page!
