Popcorn and fountain soda may surely do the trick while watching a movie, but when your appetite is as big as the big screen, a proper meal is in order. We’ve assembled a guide to some close-up worthy bites and beverages around Hollywood that pair very well with an AFI FEST screening.

“If you love burgers, this is the place to be… Although small in size, this place makes up for it with the coolness factor. They have a good happy hour and are open 24 hours. We tried their #1, #2 and #3, and everyone was a happy camper. I had their turkey burger and it was so juicy. I suggest adding the fries for $3 as you get a ton for your $.” – Monica G

“Rabbit Baklava…The cured, confit rabbit meat wrapped in phylo pastry is presented as a small, hearty pie in the shape of a thin brick, and is simply delicious. Add to that the crunch of the pistachios, and the sweetness of the dates, and the dish becomes a completely original signature offering.” – Jeffrey W

“The mole. Oh the mole… This mission was to try the infamous mole… My friend said it could compete with her mother’s. Good margaritas, too. The taco sampler is also recommended if you cannot decide; sixteen mini tacos…yum.” – Sara N

“You get complimentary “crab,” avocado, cucumbers, and white onion. That’s already a huge plus in my book. Then, their seafood options are plentiful with ahi, salmon, albacore, yellowtail, scallops, shrimp, octopus, and mashed tuna. I got the large bowl for only $11 and you get 5 scoops for that!” – Adam J

“The chef clearly picks fantastic ingredients and puts together bright and vibrant dishes, plated with flare. We loved the salt cod churro, the quinoa salad and the lamb entrée… There is a good wine list… Best of all there is a beautiful outdoor patio that feels somehow secluded from the bustle of the city, but yet still part OF the vibe.” – Evie D

“Great food (favorites include the fried chicken and waffle and brussels sprouts), awesome drinks (complex, hand crafted, delicious, and adequately strong), and amazing ambiance! Sadie’s style is the perfect combination of sophistication, coolness, and renovated old Hollywood (so it’s clean and new, but has an Art-deco flare).” Audrey C

“What makes a good bowl of ramen? A good helping of freshly made ramen noodles, and a light, airy and flavorful broth, with some tender pieces of meat/protein. By those standards, a bowl of ramen from Shin Ramen is pure perfection!” – Hira H

“If you are a true sushi connoisseur, and care more about the quality of the fish rather than flashy fried/mayonnaise rolls, then this is the place for you. Very traditional, keeping it simple, and making it about the fish. ” – Sofia A

“The best cafe on this side of town. The coffee and tea is freshly brewed… I love the Chai latte. Cozy, smooth, and has a good kick of caffeine.” – Carl G
