'Twas the night of Halloween when many o' Yelper cozied in to The Sanctuary on Penn for sweets, treats, surprises and brews from more than 30 Circle City businesses. Or as Yelp Elite, Heather H, puts it, "It was a dark and stormy night, and two yelp elites ventured out into
the cold, bitter downpour to go to a KILLER HALLOWEEN PARTY!"
Greeted at the door by Talbott Street performers and Rocket Doll Revue burlesque, attendees made their way in to the first sanctuary to experience music by .bassiq. and eats and drinks from Easley Winery, Jagermeister, Nameless Pizza, Big Boy Co., Darrin's Coffee, Leinenkugel's, Poccadio Grill, 240 Sweet, Lemley's Catering, Granite City Brewing and The Greek Islands Restaurant. Thanks to one of Indy's newest businesses, ePottingshed, cocktail tables were adorned with the creepiest yet most beautiful hydrangeas you ever did see. Later in the evening guests were treated to a pop-up projected creepy puppet show by Know No Stranger.
Yelper Brandon P recaps the once vacant Gothic Cathedral now party venue surroundings: "The Sanctuary was incredible. I've driven by the place multiple times and
thought it looked interesting but never imagined how awesome it actually
The party didn't stop in sanctuary one, winding their way to the back, Yelpers were greeted by a projected screening of Hitchcock's The Birds with music by MT Nasty. The brews were pouring thanks to Wilks & Wilson Syrups, Big House Bourbon, Fountain Square Brewing and Honest Tea. As for sweets, Newfangled Confections was on hand with their nostalgic candies.
And that's not it! We're just getting started. The depths of the sanctuary or, basement, if you will, boasted kicks ranging from palm readings by Margo The Giggling Guru to a social media-based photo booth by Viral Photo Booth. (And a stop at the Yelp Tattoo Booth prior to one's moment in the spotlight was necessary, of course). The stone-walled layer featured drinks and eats by Sun King Brewing, Flat 12 Bierwerks, Wyliepalooza Ice Cream, Maker's Mark, Pinnacle Vodka and, last but not least, Ruth's Chris Steak House Downtown.
Grace B's warm fuzzy-filled review captures the spirit of the Yelp community best:
"The common denominator that keeps me coming back to
all Yelp events are the awesome people who show up. The Yelp Community
in Indy is truly a great group of people. They are always down to have a
good time and extremely friendly. I always walk away meeting someone
new or seeing someone I know!"
To relive the fun day in and day out, Micala McClain Photography and Indever Studios were on hand to capture it all on camera!
A tremendous thanks to The Sanctuary on Penn for creaking open the doors to their one-of-a-kind venue to nearly 600 Yelpers! And to the costumed-clad Yelpers and amazing businesses who made this party possible, I tip my Medusa crown to you.
