Yelp got some Elites lei’d on Thursday night at Salty’s on the Columbia! Over 100 Yelp Elites and
their guests bid a fond farewell to Summer ’09 while sipping delicious
cocktails made with locally-distilled New Deal Vodka, imbibing on delicious craft Ninkasi
brews, and chowin’ down on an incredible spread of the famous Salty’s fare.
During a week filled
with early-fall cold and rainy days, the fates smiled on Portland’s Yelp Elite
as the skies opened up and the sun came out for a gorgeous evening on the
shores of the mighty Columbia River. The Salty’s crew was 100% on top of
everything, so when Cortney R and her man arrived early, the food was ready and
the drinks were already flowing.
The theme for the evening was Summer Sunset at Salty's, to celebrate the end of an amazing summer and enjoy one last shindig outside before the weather turned bad. Everyone came dressed in their Hawaiian best, and the myriad of colors lit up the porch in the warm pink glow of the sunset over the river. Vi B and her man rocked their tropical attire with pride, and Matthew E enjoyed his bright silk lei. Not to be outdone, Ron T busted out the coconut bra and had all the ladies coppin' a feel!
As if the amazing view and fun tropical style gear weren't enough, Salty's piled on an incredible spread. Matt M and eternal-plus-one Slo D got busy at the buffet featuring endives with blue cheese spread, baked clams with some delicious goodness, prosciutto-wrapped cantaloupe, coconut shrimp, crab puffs, bruschetta, a cheese platter, shrimp en croute, crab fritters and more!
To wash down those fantastic eats, Salty's master mixologists Chris and Linda poured up some Salty Hot Monkey spicy cocktails, New Deal Vodka Sunsets, and some refreshing Summer Fizz drinks. For those inclined towards the hops, the Ninkasi Total Domination IPA and Spring Reign summer ale were flowing like water. Needless to say, Joe M and Jeannie J were happy as a clam with their drinks.
Did the goodness stop with the amazing food and drink? Heck no! Yelpers tried their luck at the Elite Raffle, and some well-fated folks walked away with some 22's of Ninkasi, tickets to the Clumsy Lovers show and a 1-week Anniversary Pass at the Doug Fir, tickets to the upcoming Ray Manzarek show at the Crystal Ballroom, and more! And for everyone, a classic-cool vintage Yelp 2525 lunch box! All in all, it was a great way to send the summer off in style, as only the Yelp Elite Squad can.
