In their own words, Preserve24 isn't just another lower East Side bar + restaurant; it's an immersive, multi-disciplinary art installation of an expedition society headquarters responsible for launching an art expedition to Greenland to carve-out, by hand, and extract from an iceberg, transport and preserve an ancient piece of glacial ice for future generations in a sculptural freezer.
Well, have no fear – that's just egghead talk for "you'll love their libations and foodstuffs… and you just may walk away with a newfound crush on Mother Nature." Preserve24 is just as much an exploration of New York’s finest gastronomical sustainable menu offerings as an interactive sculptural installation and expedition society clubhouse. Chef John Parlatore declares his love for New York with fresh locally sourced ingredients presented in a full theater kitchen. The result is a Lower East Side story of grand scale, innovative creativity with sustainable, ethically responsible methodology.Aesthetically, P24's atmosphere is similar to a Absinth-filled, Tim Burton-esq, acid trip. Brian Goggin's art adds a layer of rustic soul and antique details that give the space a warm village-in-the- turn-of-the-century, feel. With a killer happy hour (4p – 8p Mon – Friday with $1 oysters, $3 draft beers, and $6 wine), a hip dinner crowd, and an emerging brunch that's quickly becoming a Manhattan favorite… you'd be wise to bookmark them, stat!
