Yelp Elites Vegged Out @ Veggie Grill!

All hail kale! So goes the cry at the Veggie Grill, where 60 of Portland’s Elite Squad gathered on April 25, 2012 to veg out on some serious vegan food and sip on tasty beverages at Yelp’s Veggin’ Out Elite Event! This event may have turned even some hardcore meat eaters on to vegan goods!

The fine folks from Veggie Grill welcomed the hungry Yelp crowd in with open arms. Yelp Elites enjoyed ordering full meals straight off the menu. As Jessica K notes, “Knowing this in advance, I salivated over their tantalizing menu all day.”  And the salivating didn’t stop even when the food hit the table. Burgers, kale salads, Thai chick’n salads, buffalo wings, wraps and pressed sandwiches were flowing like water and impressed even hardcore meat lovers. Jesse B swears “you’d NEVER KNOW it’s not meat. I got to sample the wings before we got our entrees and it was literally like ‘I get this isn’t meat but are you sure?’ Wow. So good. Then I got my Grillin’ Chikin’ and didn’t care. That sandwich was amazing, real meat or not.”   The food was plentiful and the portions generous. This may be the most food at any PDX elite event yet!

And what better to wash down this fine fare than with tasty brews from our friends at Bridgeport? Kingpin Double-Red, IPA, Dark Rain and Hop Czar all made appearances to wash down the delicious fare. Those who prefer the fruit of the vine also indulged in some tasty red and a sparkling white wine. The fine folks from Veggie Grill kept the drinks coming all night. As Matthew A puts it, “the staff, the owner and his wife were on top of their game and clearly enthused about their foods. You can’t help but love that kind of feeling.”

All in all, it was a fantabulous affair. Huge thanks go to Ed and his crew at Veggie Grill, to Janessa from Bridgeport, to Kevin and Chris (Manterns™ extrordinaire), and of course to the PDXYelp Elite Squad, without whom none of this would be possible.
