Sometimes, there's a bar, well, it's a bar for it's time and place…. Aye and the good folks of Yelp Glasgow hit that bar on Tuesday night for an evening of fine food and perfectly picked matching beers… the bar? Lebowskis. The outcome? Read on partners, read on. (Please feel free to abide at any point during the reading of this post.)

Welcome in, have a drink on MolsonCoors
Stepping in off the streets of Finnieston, what has to be one of the most up and coming areas in Glasogow for pubs, bars, restaurants, cafes and shops (read yelper heaven!), Glasgow's Elites and their lucky guests were welcomed to the fore father of Finnieston bars (that'll be Lebowskis) and promptly served up a wonderful 'sup folks, how's it?' drink by the lovely folks from MolsonCoors. On offer was the 'grrrrr-arrrgh' manly 'Dude' option of the uber refreshing Blue Moon, served with a bog ol' slice of orange, or the pink and fluffy 'Maude' ladies drink taking the shape of a wonderful Kasteel Cru served up with a drop of Passoa and a sprig of red currants.

The plan for the evening? Well, the Lebowskis holy trinity (Mo, Graham and Scott) love their grub and more importantly, they love where their grub comes from. Locally sourced and freshly cooked on up on site, the standing menu is already busrting with flavours, quality and enough flavour to make a nihilist crack a smile. But here's the kicker, Tuesday's night of munching was an opportunity for the dudes to fling out a few new additions to the menu.

If the food was the dude, then the accompanying beer was a Walter Sobchak if ever we've seen one (wait, does that make us Donny??). With each dish, five in all, paired perfectly with an accompanying beer, the night was a true treat in the ol' tastebuds! For those who attended and were wondering the about the line up, here be a quick wee run down (those who missed out can feel free to salivate and burn with envy right about… now!):

First up was a double whammy of bruschetta brilliance, with a smoked salmon and coriander creme freche number accompanying a tasty wee tomato basil and buffalo mozzarella nibble. This course was perfectly matched with the Belgian-style wheat beer flavours of Bluemoon, with it's hints of both orange and corinader. Next up, the yelpers were treated to a fresh and zingy spicy aubergine with parmigiana and dressed rocket washed down with a glass of Cobra. Third on the line up, it was the an old favorite dressed up and looking pretty as the Lebowskis kitchen served up a quite wonderful (can you tell this was my fave?) mini fish fillet and chunky tat combo on a stick with citrus Tartar sauce. Again this dish was matched up with an old favorite of yours truly in the shape of the light, clean and crisp flavour of Coors Light… but wait! The batter on the fish? Bluemoon batter! Oh hell yeah! Last dish in the sitting was real east meets west flavour fusion as west coast mussels were sent-a-swimming in a wonderful Thai broth, all washed down with a sip of Thailand's finest, Singa, which just seems to fit any Thai flavoured dish. Done… or were we? More to follow!

With the grub munched and the beers sipped, slurped and savored, it was time for speeches, thank-you's and a word to the wise from the Lebowskis boys. Braving my first 'backie' in a very long time, I was coerced by Mo (one of three) to hop up on his shoulders to make my thank you's, resulting in making this the most memorable 'cheers folks' i've ever taken part in! Next, the lads (Mo & Graham) each took the stage to thank all involved in making the evening such a blinding success, something i'd like again to echo just now. Big thanks again go to everyone who attended the event, from old hats to new bunnets, the people from MolsonCoors who made each dish really stand out with distinction by way of perfect matching to each beer, and of course to the Lebowskis dudes for having the mad squad in for the night.

The nights festivities were brought to a scrumptious end as dessert did the rounds in the form of sublime sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce that seemed to be made just to drink with the sweet malt and roasted flavours of our final beer for the evening, the fabulous monikered Doom Bar… of which Lebowskis certainly is not!

Big thanks again go out to the right honorable Alasdair Watson who provided us with the flantastic photies of the evening, minion Jamie for making sure that all yelpers were name tagged up and my fair wife for making the schwag look like it was laid out by little Yelp angels. The only thing missing from the night was a nice sarsparilla… say friend, you dont have any….
