Yelp Elites Enjoy a Twilight Luau at Briq!

Despite
the sweltering heat, 70 Yelp Elites and their guests made their way to the
rooftop at Briq for a Hawaiian luau at sunset. Transported to a tropical scene (and
climate!) brimming with globally inspired tapas, RIPE Bar Juice and Karma Tequila
margaritas, and local beer from Back East Brewing, this festive group found ways to cool down
in no time.

For Eric H, the “cheese and charcuterie
plate with truffled almonds and citrus marinated olives was a great way to
start” the party. Dan R loved that “the food was varied – a nice spoon of
lobster mashed potatoes here, a tasty bite of steak tartare there, a nice
crunchy carrot kimchi over there, and a sweet taste of shrimp salsa as an
exclamation point.” And while he admits, the “amazingly spicy Korean wings
ended up increasing my body temperature a few dozen degrees,” they were a huge
hit, making Carol M muse “what it is it about spicy food and hot weather that
works so perfectly?"

Yelpers washed these treats down with
margaritas by Karma Tequila and fresh, locally made RIPE agave lime elixir.
Rachel T admits “I honestly have never had such a smooth and great tasting margarita. The RIPE juice made the Karma Tequila go down very easy.” Maybe TOO
easily. “Those can be veryyyy dangerous if you lose count!" Guests also sampled
Back East Brewing’s lineup of local brews, including their new summer ale.
Jason S “will be sure to visit the brewery and take a tour soon!”

As if the party couldn’t get any hotter, the
talented duo of Kahana Hula showed up and taught us how to shake it Polynesian
style. In fact, Anna E ranks this “high on my list of favorite Yelp moments. So
fun!” Rachel T agrees, the “best part of the entire event was getting to learn to
Hula with Tiare and the rest of the Yelp crew! Thankfully I'm not shy when it
comes to getting in front of people.” Such a fantastic intro into Polynesian
dance!
