On November 14 Edmonton Elites attended Carnevale di Carne! A celebration of delicious Italian family-style dining at Saccomanno Bros with local craft beers, rum, wine, entertainment and of course lots of fun and conversation with fellow Yelpers. From the beautiful floral arrangements to balloon creations from the incredible Balloon Fairies, Carnevale di Carne was a night to remember!
On Thursday, November 14th Edmonton Elites and their guests were invited to the Carnevale di Carne! It was a celebration of delicious Italian family-style dining and food at Saccomanno Bros where guests were also treated to local craft beers, amazing entertainment and of course lots of fun and conversation with fellow Yelpers. From the beautiful floral arrangements on the tables from Janice's Growers Direct to the naughty and nice balloon creations from the incredibly talented Balloon Fairies, the wonderful details of Carnevale di Carne helped make the evening a great success.
When Yelp Elites walked into Saccomanno’s they could pick up some cool Yelp swag for playing classic carnival games, and as Sandra M remarked; “who doesn't love a fun photo booth with masks?” The carnival fun continued as the guests enjoyed beer sampeling of Death By Pumpkin, 100.3 FM The Bear and Baby Back Hops craft beers from St. Albert’s Hogs Head’s Brewery. Diplomatico Rum had an 8-year and 12-year aged rum, as well as rum liquor for the Elites to savour. Kristen K noted; “The 12 year may be the best (rum) I've ever had!”
Guests were then treated to a five-course dining experience from the kitchen of Francesco Saccomanno! First up was an antipasto that included prosciutto pizza, fried Arancini risotto balls and charcuterie platter of meats and cheeses. Next course was a house-made penne and vodka infused rosé sauce, then another pasta course of Tagliatelle in Bolognese sauce. Alberta beef, cooked and provided by D'Arcy's Meat Market, was the star of the fourth course with two different kinds of short ribs including a Korean BBQ Beef that Ardy S declared; “I am salivating just thinking about it!” This course was accompanied with an arugula salad with pear slices. Each course came with a perfectly paired Californian wine from the vinyard of Warrant front man, Erik Turner. There was the 'Epic Day Chardonnay', 'Warrant I Saw Red' and 'Erik Turner Rocker Red'. In between the dinner courses Kyle, the owner of D’Arcy's Meats, treated Yelpers to a live demonstration of butchering knowledge and skills by French Cutting a wild boar and Deboning a full chicken in minutes! Finally to end the night guests could satisfy their sweet tooth with cupcakes for dessert, as well as fun cake pops to take home, all from Cakes by Candace.
